I agree, I thought TCU should have been ranked higher. They should have been there yesterday rather than FSU.

you say that now but Florida State was the only undefeated team. You can't take an undefeated team from the SEC/previous national champs and not put them in the playoffs, idc how weak the conf was this year

Agree...FSU should have been there. TCU looks like the better team, but I don't see how you keep the undefeated returning champs out.

Alabama was deserving of being in the final four...not sure what the gripe is. They'll be good again next year and rightfully ranked high. Funny that the "3rd string QB" is being used as some kind of ammo to take down Alabama...never mind that Jones was the #12 player overall in his recruiting class.

I don't think there is some sort of a secret Alabama bias. I've been saying for awhile that the SEC is overrated this year. There is a reason why non traditional SEC powers did so well this year. Teams like Ole Miss and Mississippi State weren't suddenly that good, they just had a weaker schedule compared to previous years. The problem is no one really knows the schedule is weaker because the SEC teams all start out very highly ranked at the beginning of the year. When one of those teams loses to another SEC team the SEC team that won gets propelled highly in the rankings.

Traditional powers matter though. That's why Alabama was in the playoffs, it's why Ohio State is in the playoffs and it's why Baylor and TCU weren't. The Big 12 can't bitch though, if TCU was called Oklahoma they would have been in the playoffs.

I'm not sure you will ever see an undefeated kept out of the playoffs from a major conference. It's just so difficult to go the entire season without losing a game. You can't really blame a team in the SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Pac 12, or Big 12 for not having a tougher schedule. Rarely do any of these teams have a tough non conference schedule.

I'm just glad Saban hired Kiffin. That run game was deadly and he consistently wanted to keep passing. Reminded me of Garrett prior to Linehan.

And what struck me, and I've been saying this since late November, is that I've never seen teams get as much credit for beating other average 4 and 5 loss teams as the SEC.

The voters were still putting teams like Ole Miss, Miss St., LSU, etc. in the top 20 even though they were saddled with several losses.

I guess they were getting extra credit for "beating up on each other".

That's where the committee got it wrong. The drop did nothing but point in the direction of revenues from ticket sales and tv. TCU isn't nearly the same financial draw as Ohio State, so the Buckeyes won out due to money more so than being more deserving of the opportunity to play. And I'm not saying that Ohio State didn't earn the chance to compete. It did. But TCU's drop from #3 to #6 had everything to do with money and nothing to do with a team deserving more than the other.

The problem is it wasn't a "drop." People look at these rankings as though the poll one week is directly related to the poll the next week. That isn't the way the committee looks at this. The final rankings are totally independent of the previous weeks rankings. This means that they essentially start fresh. At that point you look at the entirety of the season and not just what the team did on that particular week. Because they start entirely fresh, there is no actual dropping or rising of teams.

Just like all traditional powers. Oklahoma has routinely gotten the benefit of the doubt and hype they didn't necessarily deserve. So has FSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio St, USC, Nebraska, Michigan, Penn St, etc in the last 30 years.

That's true. But none of them except OSU was in the playoffs. You only got the Buckeye hype when they made the playoff bracket but most had them as whipping boys to Bama. Just after Oregon won some of the announcers said it looks like Oregon will meet Alabama in the final and their game hadn't even started. My premise is simple. There is a media bias toward Alabama and it sometimes gets then in the ratings ahead of others. That should be easy for anyone to see..

But, ND's defeat of LSU a few days was impressive. I know that a lot of ND fans soured on Brian Kelly this year, but he's a damn good coach and does a phenomenal job given the level of talent he has to work with relative to other big named programs. Call it a hunch, but I think OU, Texas, USC, Michigan (prior to the Harbaugh hire), Penn State, and Miami would all trade their head coach for Brian Kelly. That says quite a bit.

The fade after the Florida St. loss really sucked this season. Golson started turning it over at an alarming rate, the defense was hit with injuries and was very young and the kicking game cost them one, maybe two games. But enough of the excuses, ha.

Next year will be Kelly's best team at ND to date on paper. Tons of starters returning, tons of guys in the two deep with experience, more depth next year to withstand the usual injuries, and many sophomores and freshmen ready to contribute.

Can't have another 8-5 season next year.

Credit the SEC for making their conference marketable and having traditional powers like. Alabama and Auburn relevant. The Big 12 needs Texas to get back on track and Oklahoma to get better as well. I don't see you pointing out the advantage ND has with there deal with NBC, not to mention Texas having a network dedicated to them.

Give it up, you're going in circles. It's obvious you're talking to a fan unhappy with the exposure of his historically nationally relevant team that's fallen on hard times and he needs excuses why nobody else cares about them.
