Oh come on. The whole damn letter is implying that he did the crap that's in the letter to begin with. Leach is a lawyer. He knew better than to give them any more ammo than the bullshit that they had already fabricated against him. All of it lies. Then once all of the lies came out all of a sudden the Leach haters couldn't hang onto the bullshit part of the story anymore so they had to turn to him not signing the letter as the source of their ire.

That doesn't sound like a defense of sovereign immunity. It's just a long way of saying "too bad" which is fine, but it doesn't really defend the university's position. Hance didn't like Leach, maybe for understandable reasons. Fired him, then the university used SI to cancel his contract and not pay the rest of the money he was owed.

The other stuff about saying F-off and letters and getting ESPN involved was just a dog and pony show. They shouldn't have extended his contract in the first place after the 2008 season if they knew they couldn't work together.

I'm willing to bet you don't know more then me. :art Just saying, I do a lot of employment discrimination with state employees.

Yes you are very correct about that. I am certainly no lawation. :unsure I don't mean to sound like I think I am an expert. What I was meaning is that I know a bunch about what it feels like first hand when sovereign immunity is used.

As an attorney I think sovereign immunity is bullshit. Basically a state gets to say, well if a private employer does something it's wrong, but if a state government employer does the exact same thing, totally acceptable.

It’s been tea leaf reading season for awhile now with regard to the University of Michigan’s search for a new head football coach, but the DetroitSportsRag might have something definitive to report regarding Jim Harbaugh’s interest in the vacancy.

As alluded to earlier today on MGoBlog.com, in recent days, Jim Harbaugh sent a text message to Andy Moeller (an offensive line coach on the Browns and the son of Gary Moeller) stating that it looked like they’d be “getting the band back together” — meaning former Michigan players led by Harbaugh heading back to Ann Arbor in an attempt to resurrect the Michigan football program. There has been speculation that Moeller would be a part of Harbaugh’s staff if he left the NFL for U of M.

Our source is inside the U of M athletic department and is well-connected. We also confirmed the text message story through a former Michigan football player.

It’s probably not a coincidence that LSU head coach Les Miles basically removed himself from the fray this evening (although indications had been that he was never that a serious consideration in the first place).

Everything is pointing toward Harbaugh getting the gig and Tuesday might be a big day in that effort moving forward.

Not much would please me more. I like it when Michigan is good and has battles with tOSU. Harbaugh will get them back to that level.

I like seeing Michigan do well and would like to see Harbaugh return.

I hope Harbaugh takes it. Even though he didn't win a SB in SF he had them on the verge 3 straight years. They had some great drafts over the last 8 years but it's no coincidence they turned the corner and became a contender when he showed up.
Also, if he goes to Michigan the 49ers won't be getting anything in return like has been mentioned if he got traded to another NFL team.
 
Badgers officially hire Paul Chryst

MADISON, Wis. -- Paul Chryst is coming home to coach Wisconsin.

The school made it official on Wednesday, hiring Chryst away from Pittsburgh. The announcement ended days of speculation following the surprising departure of Gary Andersen for Oregon State.

It used to be that Wisconsin was the picture of stability, but lately, change has become almost a constant in Madison. Story

Big Ten needs coaching stability at top programs, and Wisconsin hopes Paul Chryst will provide that. Story

Chryst is a former Wisconsin offensive coordinator and a Madison native. He leaves the Panthers after going 19-19 in three seasons, returning to his hometown and alma mater.

"Very appreciative and honored for this opportunity," he said.

The 49-year-old Chryst had two prior stints as an assistant for the Badgers. Most notably, he was part of the Wisconsin staff from 2005-11, helping the Badgers to five double-digit victory seasons and two Rose Bowls.

He was coordinator in 2011 when the high-scoring Badgers featured quarterback Russell Wilson and running back Montee Ball.

Chryst started at Pittsburgh in 2012. When Bret Bielema left Wisconsin for Arkansas after the 2012 Big Ten championship game, athletic director Barry Alvarez said then that he would not pursue Chryst for the opening after helping him get his first head-coaching job at Pitt.

Andersen ended up in Madison, and left almost exactly two years later to take over the Beavers. He departed Wisconsin on Dec. 10, the same day that star running back and Heisman Trophy finalist Melvin Gordon announced he was skipping his senior season to enter the NFL draft.

Gordon's departure was expected; Andersen's move was a stunner after leading the Badgers to a 19-7 record in two seasons.

With the job open again, Chryst quickly rose to the top of the list as a potential replacement. This time, there no was hesitation to reach out from Wisconsin.

Alvarez said the first person he thought of when Andersen informed him he was leaving was Chryst.

Unlike Andersen, a Utah native who spent most of his coaching career in the West, Chryst has roots in Madison. He remains a popular figure at Wisconsin, and the school added a dose of fanfare at his introductory news conference with a small band set up to left of a stage at the school's basketball practice court.

"To continue to grow and learn, and then leave and be able to come back ... Coach, I appreciate that, more than you know," said Chryst, turning to Alvarez, also a former Wisconsin coach.

While the Badgers look to Chryst for stability, his departure throws Pitt back into uncertainty.

The Panthers will be in the football coach market for the fourth time since Dave Wannstedt was let go after the 2010 season. Since then, Mike Haywood was fired less than a month after being lured from Miami, Ohio, after being arrested on a domestic violence charge, and Todd Graham lasted one season before quitting and taking the Arizona State job.

Chryst was then hired by athletic director Steve Pederson, who will not get another opportunity to select a Pitt coach. Pederson was fired on Wednesday in the wake of Chryst's departure.

It also makes my program relevant again and gives us a reasonable shot at actually beating Ohio State regularly.
 
Harbaugh would be a brilliant hire. Every recruit wants to go to an NFL Factory. I think everyone knows that's what Michigan would be under Harbaugh.
 
Heard earlier that his first choice is the Raiders. He does not want to move and wants to stay in the NFL.

As an aside...I do think Harbaugh's style translates better to the college game. He wears guys out and only playing for him for 3-4 years is probably best.

Kyler Murray is the QB for Allen HS where I live. He is also the nephew of Emmitt Smith's wife. Allen will probably play for the State championship again.
