Think it's actually happening just saw this on VT forum
"A&M insiders reporting offer 1 million base + bonus + will pay 800K over
Contract period. Guessing Bud wanted his 800,000. Was always wondering what was taking so long for him to sign his renewal with VT. This answers it."
I'm not seeing this reported anywhere reputable. Are you sure this is going down? I've heard Aggie bs before.

No, I'm not positive but there's a ton of smoke, at the various VT forums as well as the Ag ones. Also TexAg radio had a callin segment last night "how do you feel about Foster as next DC'

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane are expected to hire Baylor offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery to be their next football coach, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad on Thursday.
Montgomery has been calling the plays for one of the most prolific offenses in college football. Baylor is the only team in FBS to be ranked in the top four in the country in total offense each of the last four seasons.
The Bears averaged 48.8 points and 581.3 yards per game this season under Montgomery, who just completed his seventh season and also served as the quarterbacks coach.
The 42-year-old Texan has spent most of his career as an assistant to Baylor coach Art Briles, first at Stephenville (Texas) High School and then at Houston (2003-07) and Baylor.
Montgomery was a finalist for the Broyles Award, given to the nation's top assistant coach, in 2013.
He would replace Bill Blankenship, who was fired Dec. 1 after a 2-10 season in 2014 and went 24-27 at Tulsa over four seasons.

I'm laughing so hard at this Foster deal right now. If he stays at VT past Dec. 31 he gets a $800,000 bonus. If he leaves then the details will have to be worked out. This is very very interesting to say the least. If he leaves right after the bonus he will have helped aTm. If VT knows he's leaving anyway I bet they will be ready for his ass to leave immediately.

Pretty much. They think he may leave or may want to leave so they'd rather him get down the road and not pay him.
It is similar in that they knew they wanted to get rid of Leach so they shipped his ass down the road.
Basically, if you are sniffing around then screw your bonus...bye!
Which is exactly what Leach did EVERY SINGLE YEAR. He sniffed around every damn off season and made it clear that Tech was not a destination place for him.

That's your interpretation of how it went down. Hance had it out for Leach well before he started "shopping himself around".

BTW, I'm not saying that there are internal problems at VT. I don't know that. There will have to be some details worked out between aTm and VT or one party may end up really pissed. It would be easy for there to be a perception that somebody was done wrong.

Leach shopped himself around pretty much every year for many years. That isn't perception. Nobody hired him because he is really weird and doesn't fit the image of a big time college football coach. He needed a place unique, desperate or at the lower levels. Otherwise someone would have picked him up years ago.

Very odd if true about Foster. He was a hot commodity over a decade ago and had multiple HC offers. Seemed like he was content with being a DC and staying at VT. The only thing I can see that changed is they got a new AD about a year ago and maybe he sees the writing on the wall with Beamer's time coming towards an end and the AD wanting his own hires to come in soon.

I know you're joking, but I stuck around because I love the university, really. I have had many job offers since I have been at Tech and chose to stay. Leach didn't have that same love for my university. Has little to do with how he was treated and basically framed.

Leach thought he won the lottery when he won 11 games. He was sure that somebody would come knocking for the big offer after that. He laid up big time after that point. Please tell me how Tommy Freakin Tuberville and a young punk can easily out recruit your ass even after you win 11 games? All we heard were excuses that you can't recruit to Lubbock because nobody wants to go there. What a quitter.
Look at the programs around that took a similar path. After winning big and getting Heisman votes they go on the attack. The sell it, recruit harder, market harder, expand and build the future. Go watch Leach's 2009 year. What did he do besides become more distant, arrogant, hard to work with and lazy. He comes strolling into work with his hair all messed up at 9:20 every morning. All of that happened.
