2013 College Football chatter....

I was a big supporter of Leach, but that's not exactly new news.

Most of my coaching philosophies have been influenced by him. Just about everything I have done has been because of him and a few others (Dave Cisar, Rocky Long and others). They are contrarians, which I love in the underdog role. Why do what everyone else does and follow the football norm? That only allows your opponent a great chance to prepare for you since you do common things. It is hard to imagine now but back when Leach was bringing the Air Raid mainstream most people thought he was an idiot. Since then he has thransformed the Big 12 and college football as a whole. I think you will be hard pressed to find someone who was a bigger Leach supporter than myself. What he did was brillant. He never got a chance to truly shine like he should have because he turned into an even bigger egotistical idiot. That eventually destroyed him. As a result if his selfishness he ruined any chance of capitalizing on at the climax of his career. Because of that he screwed over his team.

Skid, I'm not taking the bait. All I read in all of that was "Leach is awesome".

Your face.

I was actually hoping TN would skip this craze. And for the record, this color isn't called gray, it's "Smokey"...get it?

Well, I say you should embrace it. You gotta ignore the fact that it breaks tradition and is a little annoying. Recruits love this stuff and so does the TV camera. Get on board or fall behind.

As with the Cowboys I don't like when they start messing with the uniforms. But for one game a year it's not a big deal to me. I'd hate it though if they pulled an Oregon and broke out a different style every week.

Texas Tech is going that way. They don't have as much uniform tradition so I think it works for them more so than it does traditional programs like UT.

Tradition is the main issue. The complaints from some TN fans is that you don't see Alabama, SoCal, Penn St, etc playing the multiple uniform game. But on the flip side, I've seen schools like Georgia and Florida wear an alternate uniform now and then. Being a once a year thing, I don't care. But I wouldn't want them to scrap their tradition and go crazy like Oregon or Maryland. But I don't see that happening at TN.

I would like to announce that the "Bryn Renner, UNC QB, First QB taken in the 2014 NFL Draft" train, is boarding now.

Your Oklahoma Sooners have chosen Trevor Knight over Blake Bell as the starting QB.

Apparently this Knight is a pretty mobile guy. Not in the mold of an RGIII but he can make plays with his legs. This will be a welcome addition to the Sooner offense coming off the Landry Jones era.

Landry Jones probably couldn't beat Tom Brady in a foot race. Dude was a stiff.

Blake Bell is a gimmick.
