For the second time in a month a TTU QB is transferring. That leaves one scholarship QB on campus. A true freshman.

Well, to be fair, he is graduating. He just happens to still have 2 years of eligibility left. So he's transferring after he graduates in May.

Two years ago Brewer lit it up as a freshman in the camps. He was expected to take over the reigns as a sophmore. This triggered a reaction of older QBs not wanting to sit behind him and never play. Then Brewer got hurt and a couple of freshman battled it out for the job. Brewer was given first team reps for the bowl game and then lost out to again t a freshman.

Jacob Karam - graduated early and went on the start at Memphis
Scotty Young - 4 star stud out of Denton tranfered to LaTech - didn't want to compete with Brewer
Matt Nicholis - bust, transfered out
Brewer - lost the job to a freshman after being hurt. Transfering, will have 2 years left after graduating early.
Baker Mayfield - punk who left in a huff. This was after he walked on and won the job as a true freshman. He did well until big 12 play where he turned into a turnover machine.

The crazy thing is that all of these QBs left because they saw that Brewer was young and going to be the starter. Brewer ended up injured and then losing the job. Now brewer is transfering and all of the guys that didn't want to compete with him are somewhere else.
 
I have heard some rumblings recently that there is some talk of a new conference being kicked around. The talk I am referring to was via TTU folk. There is a source for my comments but I will not reveal them. Any of you TTU followers hear anything?

Haven't heard that. It sounds like a terrible idea. We were within inches of joining the PAC 10 a few years ago but the plan was ruined by Texas. So it seems that for now we will continue to do what our daddy tells us to do.

That pissed me off when it happened. I mean, how long do we have to UT around like puppy dogs?

Nebraska, Missouri, aTm, Colorado...all of them got tired of it. Leaving worked out for them.

It appears that we are UT's prison beotch for the foreseeable future.
 
I was just touching base on the possible new conference thing. I am not going any further with it unless there is something substantial that develops.
 
Wondered what happened to Scotty Young.
 
I really doubt it, LT. I can't imagine that Tech would leave a power conference. They just don't have the pull to be able to do that IMO.

But if you know something spill the beans!

From what I was told he looked a little shaky early on. That was to be expected though because he was very young when that happened.
 
We have the Texas high school players the year commited at QB. Hopefully he sticks and we can sign another for depth.

We need some hookers and cash to up our recruiting a bit more.

At this point there is nothing to spill other than there had been some dialogue. It wasn't necessarily saying that TTU was spearheading or instigating anything only that there was "talk" at TTU. That is too nebulous to speculate with.
 
Get the recruiters down to Copperas Cove and check out Manny Harris. Has an arm and isn't afraid to use it. His first game that he started this past year he threw for 300 yards and that was just in the 4th quarter.

I have a lot of contacts (not Hostyle contacts) in the athletic department here. I will see if they have heard anything.
 
Not liking this Charlie Strong at Texas stuff at all. He is at least saying all the right things about completely changing the culture at Texas. Not good.
