Prospects Dallas Has Shown Interest In - 2023

I sort of agree to the extent I don't think we have glaring holes. But I disagree with some of your premise. I've got 4+ DEs I trust.

You go to WR and we have 2 guys I trust. After last year I do not trust Gallup. And I don't know that the Cowboys do either which is why they are scouting receiver so hard.

Oline, I've got 4 guys I trust. I don't trust Tyron, no one should after his last 3 years.

RB, one guy I trust. I sort of trust Ronald Jones as a #2 but that's shaky.

TE, I trust Fergashot. But that isn't to say they can't be improved on.

I trust LVE and to an extent Clark. But again, could be improved upon too.

Corner, I trust 4 guys. So that's pretty strong. Stronger than the other positions I've listed.

If you add it all up the two positions I trust most next year are safety and DE. If a guy blows you away in value you can afford to still take him at those positions. However, if it's even in the same ball park as the other positions, I'm taking those guys instead.

You seem to think that I'm arguing vehemently for a DE in the first or something, I'm saying I think there's value in it if they go that direction and that there's plenty of scenarios that don't include injury where that player could make an impact, as opposed to CB where they'd be sitting on the bench waiting for 2, if not potentially even 3 injuries to happen.

There's a very real scenario where the board is something like Johnston, Bresee, Washington, Torrence, Avila, Kincaid, Keion White, McDonald, Anudike-Uzomah, Gibbs and Mazi.

Flowers, Addison, Robinson, Mayer are all gone, along with the usual suspects obviously.

If they went McDonald in that scenario I wouldn't begrudge them at all. It's not exactly what I would do but it's not like they'd be way off the reservation taking some schlub like Hill a full round early while there were other clearly better options available.

Johnston, Avila and Mazi would be my top 3.

I wouldn't be upset by McDonald but to me it would be a poor use of resources. You just used a first on a pass rusher (Parsons) and a second on a pass rusher (Sam Williams) and now you're using another first on a pass rusher. While it's also the deepest position on your team with guys you have given decent to big contracts to in Lawrence and Armstrong. Plus resign Fowler.

I really like the player and love a dominant pass rush but it would certainly feel like overkill and a misuse of resources. Now if for some reason Nolan Smith is there and Quinn took him I could see thinking, hey this dude has some real special qualities and Quinn will just find a way to use him. But guys like McDonald to me are available every year.

Unless a clear BPA drops I think Avila will be one of our top choices, if not the top choice at 26. This team loves position flex on the line and he was all-conference at center and LG, along with getting some starts at RG/RT and I think even LT for a game or two.

It's hard for me to imagine them showing this much interest in him with the idea that he could be there in the 2nd, because he most definitely will be long gone by then.

I would be fine with him at 26. He has the dreaded POSITION FLEX which this time might matter if they cannot get Biadasz signed in 2024.

Reminds me of the Texas AM OG last year in terms of position flex and ability.

Yeah the problem is you create a hole either at guard or center by letting him go.

It's dreaded when it's a bit conjured up, like a guy who started at LT for 3 years then gets 30 reps at center at the Senior Bowl and it's sold as position flex.

It's different when a guy was all conference at two separate positions in back to back years.

I really think we are shooting for another round 4 TE.
That is what makes this class so hard to figure out.

In a normal year, you get a Ferguson in that range.

This year, it all depends on if teams decide to feast on a fat class early.

I think it will be weird. You'll see teams hold back because of the depth but than you may see some massive runs all at once. Sort of once the flood gates open teams will then start getting jumpy.

Which is so weird because it feels like in years past you didn't see many TEs get draft. Maybe a couple in the second and a couple in the third.
