2023 NFL Draft Chatter Thread...

Looks like they're getting DJ Moore, a 2023 2nd and 2024 1st and 2nd to move down. They're basically valuing Moore as a 1st rounder since they're only getting one first to move down 8 slots, which isn't that much.

I'll be very curious to see who it is the Panthers are moving up for, Young doesn't really seem like Reich's type and Richardson is just a huge project. I'm guessing it's Stroud after his impressive throwing performance at the Combine.

Yeah you would sure hope there is one QB that they are really in love with out of the top 4. If not, you probably overshot the landing. But I guess if you don't trade up to 1, you assume someone else will and the Texans will take a QB at 2. So then suddenly your choices get pretty limited. Odds are you aren't in love with 3 QB's in this class.

The Bears moving down to 9 has to sting a little too from the perspective that you may have gone down out of the range of the really elite talent of this draft. You may miss out on the Jalen Carter/Will Anderson types.

And the trade up has to be for Stroud. There ain’t no damn way they take Young or Richardson, right?

Bears GM Ryan Poles pulled off what appears to be a hell of a trade.

Four of the first 65 picks, two ones and two twos over the next couple of years and a quality WR under contract?

Too bad the effect of all this might be for naught.

First, history has shown that when teams get blockbuster trade hauls, most of the time they squander them. Some like our beloved Cowboys were able to parlay the Herschel Walker windfall into something special. But how many times over the last decade have we seen a team make a big trade and get picks but fuck them all up because the organization overall was not equipped.

But more concrete is the fact that Fields is a risk.

I get it that the flavor of the moment is to get that running QB and think you can be patient until they can somehow become a passer.

At best, he gets them a Jalen Hurts-type of year but I don't think it goes more than that.

They only have two 1's in 2024, they got Moore, a 1 in 2024 and two 2's to move from 1 to 9.

This sounds like bullshit.

You trade up like that, you have a guy in mind. Not a couple. One guy.

Even if there are two guys. You can't trade down. The Texans are going QB.
They might not.

So your choice is Davis Mills and a pass rusher or just Bryce Young?

I would not take Bryce Young.

Davis Mills is a backup level QB. I'd rather take a Bryce Young or CJ Stroud. Hell even a Levis or Richardson frankly and I'm not a Richardson fan.

They're just trying to see if they can fleece the Texans into doing something stupid.

Yep. The NFL has gone full QB mode. Have to have that QB now.

The Bears have picks 9, 53, 61, and 64 This year. Then they will have two 1s and two 2s next year unless they trade any of them.

I was talking about what they got in the trade specifically, the fact that they moved down 8 spots for a late 2, a 2024 2 and a 1 isn't exactly a great haul.

The fact that they got one of the last picks in the second from Carolina as opposed to Carolina's own second is a significant difference.

I guess we just differ on opinion.

This is just not the year to say fuck it, I have to have a QB.

That is what the whole QB romance game is, each and every April.

This QB class is dogshit. In a real draft, none of the QBs other than Stroud are even mentioned in the first, let alone early first.

Dogs hit QB class is what last year's QB class was. All 4 of these guys are better than any QBs from last years class. Bryce Youngs height does freak me out a little. Plus Alabama hasn't exactly panned out with their top QB picks. But he is a really good QB. Stroud has the size and just throws a great ball.

To me this is your classic 2 QB class with 2 more that will go in the first because of traits. I could see Levis going either way. Busting or being a Josh Allen type. Richardson I just don't know. Maybe he gets in the right offense but he also has bust written all over him. That's my take on the QB class. It's good but it's not great either. But I'm not in love with the other talent at the very top of this draft either. Jalen Carter was the star but that shine has come off a bit. Will Anderson doesn't blow me away either.

So no the top QBs don't blow me away but I don't see a sure fire game changer at the top either. So I'd roll the dice on a QB for sure if I'm the Texans. They aren't winning shit with their QB by adding Anderson or Jalen Carter.

Well I agree it's not exactly 1983, but that's a pretty big overstatement, boozie. A draft with only one QB taken in the first round? QBs always have and always will be reached for and overprojected.

I was referring to the talent level.

This is the worst QB class since 2019. Even worse than last year because they will force guys up into the round.

Not that I am complaining since it just pushes down the talent we need.
