one possible comforting thought: how much longer can Dak play? His window is closing, right next to Zeke's.

QBs and RBs don't age the same.

Dak is 29. He could conceivably play another 10 or so years.

Donald-lite... maybe. He has the pass rush angle that the Joneses respect. I think the Donald comparisons will drive up his draft rating.

I kind of like Siaki Ika myself in this range.

Not sure he is as strong as Donald but I'll be damned if the guy doesn't have elite quickness and agility. And while he isn't heavy he plays stronger than his size. I'm all about a potential dominant force on the inside to compliment the great ends.

We can get a nice run-stuffing DT in the 2nd, I'd even look to trade up for one, but I'm not taking one in the first.

Perfect nickname for Moore = Joystick.

Lombardi is exactly right when he says Moore's mindset was "Call more plays, I got more passes, I got more passes to call" and then said..."it became like a computer game".

That's exactly how it felt in certain games when the offense would get stuck in the mud, like he was a remote drone operator or something thousands of miles away from the battlefield just kind of operating in theory rather than responding to real-time changes on the ground that were happening right in front of him.

Everything Lombardi said here is basically an exact encapsulation of all of our complaints around Moore over the last few years.

He also characterized Hurts the exact same way I've been describing him all year, he's running a college offense where he doesn't have to do much of anything with his arm, while having a top 5 WR tandem in the league on the rare occasion when he does. He's a ticking time bomb that's going to obliterate that team if/when he gets $45M/year.

Yeah Mazi, Benton, or Ika. Hell if you lose all those guys I kind of like Dexter too. Those are your high end big boys in the draft and none should go in the first but all would be good in the second.

He makes it sound like we were super pass heavy. We weren't, but we also made poor decisions situationally when to run.

We do suck a tad at trading down to get the right value, and this is a situation where I don't care if we gain the perfect exact draft value so long as we get a good, impactful player-- especially at DT.

Hell, if it's a first rounder at least we get a year more productivity at rookie deal prices.

I'm bracing for another BCBA draft.

You're too desperate for a run-stuffing DT because of how stupid this team is about the position historically.

Assuming that Ika/Mazi/Benton were all on the board at 26, and it'd be a shock if they weren't, I'd go elsewhere and then immediately get on the phones trying to trade up into the 40ish range to nab one of them on day 2.

The problem is we know these dumbasses won't do such a thing because they'll be ogling CB's or whatever.

BCBA

It's fucking lipstick on a pig, and we've been whores for it, so yes, I'm desperate. At this point, fuck the extra 4th round pick or whatever we'd get from the perfect trade down.

I won't be shocked if one of those guys lasts to our second round pick. NFL teams just don't value NTs that much. I hate trading up. I want more picks in rounds 2/3/4 not less.

Doubt it, and if they do last that long then destiny says we probably won't be interested.

Recent history has us standing pat and missing all the DT's... again.

Quinn knows defense and McCarthy has traditionally valued impact DT's.

It's the fucking Joneses who are dense and blind to positions that statistically show very little (except for numbers of Superbowl appearances).

You have to let the draft come to you. If you're worried that 4 NTs will go in the second round before our pick I don't know what to tell you. I guess wait, see and if 3 of those guys are gone, than trade up for the fourth. But I'm not reaching in the first just to say I took a NT.

Kancey on the other hand is a first rounder in my opinion and absolutely would consider him at 26. Dynamic DTs change everything for a defense.

I'm workshopping something real nice about Bresee being a dynamic interior presence, but at an actual prototypical size compared to Kancey. I'd be fine with Kancey in the first but Bresee is arguably right there with him despite the stats.

Problem is I have no faith in these dullards taking either, probably because their arms aren't long enough or whatever.
