I've been saying the guy is stupid quick. His change of direction is insane too. 280 is scary but the guy doesn't play like it. Probably because he has such a low center of gravity. It's hard to move those short dudes backwards with leverage.

I still think that if he went to Rutgers, people wouldn’t be losing their minds.

Even more freaky…

And that's why I'd take him in the first, although as a backup plan simply because there's so much depth on the DL in this class.

There are about 8 guys who I'd love in the second, along with another 5 or so who I'd be happy with, and we can't rightly spend our first and second picks on the DL given that it's arguably the strength of our team to begin with.

Well yeah, Aaron Donald is a rare physical freak. This dude has similar dimensions and athleticism from the same school and he produced at a high level. But how many Aaron Donald sized DTs do you see in the NFL? Not many.

But gosh I can't help but like this guy. Set Aaron Donald aside and watch him. He is fun to watch. I think he is an impact DT. If we go defender in the first, this is probably the only guy I want.

Van Ness is a few pounds lighter and ran a 4.58 and profiles as an interior rusher/jumbo DE as well, so there's that.

This is a player I will have to go back and see how these kind of numbers translate to the field.

Yeah I talked about him the other day. Reports were he would kill it at the Combine. I really hate to say it but I think Iowa's defensive scheme held him back some. Works great in college football but we two gap our DEs a lot.

That is becoming more and more common. Is the Combine on the way out?
It might be.

You have owners, coaches and GMs sitting it out, while players opt out.

Plus these guys are getting better and better training to beat the Combine drills and they are killing it, which hurts the process.

But dumping it and going straight to Pro Days and individual workouts would be a bad idea for evaluation but also keeping the game relevant in the offseason leading up the draft.
