Good old Babe forgot to mention a few things while he was trolling all folks with common sense: Davis: 2000 yard season, league MVP, Suoerbowl MVP, two time Siperbowl champ.
Yep that extra stuff on resumes matters.

There are RBs whose career stats blow Zeke's out of the water, yet they haven't come close to making the HOF.

Im curious as to which ones blow him out.

There you go. Zeke the future Hall of Fame RB.

The biggest thing is 85% of Terrell Davis’ production is in four of his ‘seven’ years. Year 5-7 consisted of 4, 4 and 8 games.

How about we compare Staubach vs Quincy’s career stats at age 29?:dunce

There's also the little matter of Terrell Davis doesn't actually belong in the hall of Fame.

Agreed, but at least he could make the argument that for 2 years he was the premier back in football and the most important player on a back to back SB Champion team.

Jerome Bettis was NEVER elite and is one of the greatest head-scratching entries of all time.

He doesn't belong anywhere near the Hall.

But he has a Super Bowl ring*

* as a backup with <400 yards rushing that owes Roethlisberger his life for preventing him being the Bill Buckner of the NFL

Cool name amd longevity. Also just being a Steeler is what got him in.

It’ll be interesting if the similar career, non-Steeler Frank Gore gets in.

Bettis has three All-Pros, Gore has one
Gore named to All-Decade team, Bettie wasnt
Gore #3 all-time, Bettis was Top 5 at time of retirement
Gore started in Super Bowl with 100+ yards, arguably one carry from a ring. Bettie one ring as short-yardage specialist.
Gore one elite season, nine 1,000+ seasons. Bettie three elite, eight 1,000+

But all this discussion while 3x 4x 5x All-Pros like Darren Woodson and Chuck Howley have to wait

I don't think Gore should be in either.

He'll probably make it, though. I didn't realize he had an all-decade team... how did that happen?

please clarify 'elite' season for a RB.

Prolly true for most RBs we call elite, though. There would be 4-5 years you would call great. What you do in that time is important.

Davis was always a borderline case (and yes, the migraine helped). For him at least he reached heights few others have ever reached. IMO winning the league MVP is a very big deal, as was winning two Superbowls and being Superbowl MVP. I mean, that's what it's all about. Behind his breakway speed and power, Denver blew teams out of the water. He drove that team.

Bettis was media-driven all the way with his charm and retarded Detroit boy ending his career in Detroit bullshit story.

Shame about Billy Sims. He was on a HOF trajectory. Ditto Sterling Sharpe. Both are probably more deserving than some borderline guys who have gotten in.
