is it me, or does Johnson look thicker than most receivers, almost TE ish?
Common sense says possession while crossing the goal line equals a touchdown. In the Goodell/Blandino era they went stupid with that crap about football move, etc. I think it just gives DB's reason to open up on these guys in that situation to knock the ball loose. Frankly I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet unless I missed it.What's interesting though looking carefully is Butch lets go of the football in the process of standing back up.
On the ground, on his back, in the endzone he possesses the football and it never touches the ground. I mean, that's a touchdown by every definition, right?
You land on your back, you should not be expected to make a football move afterwards. You are down.

That said, I don't think that was a catch back then, much less now.
I think that the catch thing started being a deal in the late 1970s where you would see it pop up and change moments in games.College is one foot. In the 80s and 90s, kinda considered getting a second foot to be the football move that solidified a catch.
~15 years ago when they started going with this actual ‘football move’ term and what constitutes it, that’s when things got fucked up. It got super fucked when they introduced the different rules for ‘going to/surviving the ground’

I think it was the Luv Ya Blue Oilers where Mike Renfro had a TD that could have derailed the Steelers and of course, the rest is history.

That play wasn't a catch/football move type of controversy. It was a simple did-he-have-two-feet-inbounds question that was easily answered by the replay.I think that the catch thing started being a deal in the late 1970s where you would see it pop up and change moments in games.

They looked so good, but we almost always lost in those.NFL Network is doing a countdown of all the old NFL Films recap shows and they're on the Cowboys-Colts one now.
Anyone who doesn't love those original blue uniforms is crazy. They never should've changed those.

So that "becoming blue" is any worse than the seafoam?Bad juju. They were okay ... until the pants got too blue. Almost Oiler blue.
Hell yeah.If I were to ever buy a Cowboys jersey in the future, it would be that royal blue.
No. Seafoam green was the absolute worst. To think Tex got the idea from seeing it in a car's interior. So that "becoming blue" is any worse than the seafoam?

God damn. You poor undereducated slob.Another note, I've heard this called the Blunder Bowl and all but I don't think I've ever watched the whole extended highlight show like this. I guess I forgot Unitas got hurt and Earl Morrall came in and won the game for them.
I thought it had to do with how the color resolution showed on TV.No. Seafoam green was the absolute worst. To think Tex got the idea from seeing it in a car's interior.![]()
Ahem...God damn. You poor undereducated slob.
You should have seen this shit as a child, for one.
And it was never called the "Blunder Bowl". It was the "Blooper Bowl".
Ahem...
