No way they lose patience this early into his coaching career. The program was teetering on the brink of collapse when he took over. They know he has an uphill climb ahead of him.

I was delusional like 99% of the fan base.....expecting Venables' impact to be immediate. But the last 2 weeks have been a dose of reality.

After the roster and coaching staff turnover OU just went through, it's going to take a year or two for this program to start flourishing again. I had to remind myself that Saban and other great coaches went through the same thing their first couple of years on the job.

The 2023 recruiting class is incredible....ranked #5 overall last I checked. And the best part about it is its loaded with 4 and 5 star DEFENSIVE players unlike previous classes that were heavy on offensive talent. As we've seen the last two weeks, this team desperately needs talent on the defensive side of the ball.

We'll get there. Just not as fast as we all hoped.

Texas is on tap for our 'get right' game.
 
After we beat up on Texas next week, will that even count as a Big 12 conference win?
 
They're a lot more cautious about clearing players who suffer concussions at the college level.

I assume OU's starting QB has a concussion. If that's the case, I doubt he'll be available for that game.

The depth chart a quarterback for OU looks pretty bad based on todays performance. They looked like a cellar team.

I should have warned you prior to the season. Gabriel is a a self indulgent prick who is only concerned with his stats, not wins. There will be times when he can simply move the chains but he’ll go for the deep ball anyhow. It causes him to lose at least one game a year that his team is a double digit favorite against. Looks like you’ve already started to feel that pain.

I admit I know nothing of the goings-on of big time college football with the donors, etc. But I seriously doubt Castiglione would do anything like that. Venebles seemed to be his pet hire with all the Stoops ties to his glory days of hiring Bob, being part of the "family", etc.

I will say that just by my eye test, OU looks incredibly ordinary out there, even before today. I don't see many NFL looking guys like they've had the last several years. And as already discussed, Gabriel doesn't look like a P5 QB. Still, that's no excuse for being as bad as they were today. This Baylor-OSU game doesn't have Sunday talent everywhere either but this is a well-played and hard-played competitive game.

Did he routinely miss open receivers like he has this year? And not by a little bit. I mean, it's bad. He's overthrowing very open guys by several yards at times.

Castiglione probably does have an agenda with Venerable but alumni and supporters aren’t as gracious as he might be. Castiglione would probably not want to get their ire if the current trends continue toward lending the team to the lower half of the SEC. He would not likely be as gracious as when he made the hire.
 
Is it one of these woke trendy things that colleges have to have some fat, homely cheerleaders now? I've seen that at several games now.

Pretty much what I expected. I guess I kind of got my hopes up because of how the defense was looking. Sounds silly now.

Somehow Martinez is actually playing to his physical talent the last two weeks, which he's never done before.

I do think they have good coaching, too.

The Tigers have a WR named Shawn Hendershot. I looked it up, doesn't look related to the Villain.
