Cowboys Nostalgia Thread

Nothing will be as good as his coach's show. Running that old projector back and forth explaining plays was so great.

Whoa, that must be one of the later ones he did. All high tech with the TV and VCR. I remember the darkened room with the old film projector.

Edit, now I see, 1988. Wow.

I tried to find some older ones, but no such luck.

That vid makes me wonder, since most of us at least kind of remember... How many were Team Hogeboom vs Team Pelleur?

What a helluva find. One of the most iconic plays in NFL history.

A couple of things:

1. There were a ton of bad snaps in that sequence for the Cowboys. Landry has balls the size of watermelons, so what does he do? He pulls the center in the last 2 minutes of the game and puts in a rookie. In the playoffs. Down by 4. Game on the line. That is a some elephant balls stuff right there.

2. This was back when football was still football.

Love it. :towel
It was a very nice watch. And right at the end, you see Brandt chatting it up with Longley while they are tending to the ref who got brained.

I never knew there was a Tex Schramm show until just now. Also an older Tom one... 1977.

I used to sit in my car in college hundreds of miles away and try to pick up KRLD on AM radio just to listen to any Cowboys news or games. Also had the Dallas Morning News delivered by mail so I could read any Cowboys articles. Back then it seemed justified. Now I’m not sure what my reasoning is. :unsure

Fuck him.

I had my hit list in line early.

He was at the top of the list. Hated him. Hated Bradshaw. Hated whomever the Rams' QB was. Redskins, Eagles, Cardinals.

Hated 'em all.
A wise green puppet once told me that fear leads to anger … anger leads to hate … hate leads to suffering. Try to learn from his example.

I was team Danny White all the way. I never understood Landry's fascination with Hogeboom. Pelluer same thing. Never showed anything as far as I could tell.

Only a few weeks ago, booze made a few optimistic type posts that surprised some of us.

Glad to see he's feeling like himself again.

To be fair, he is day drinking. I appreciate that, Booze, just like I appreciate you.

What sucked was their not trying to draft a QB when they knew the one they had was ok but not special.

I think they thought they could get a Superbowl victory with just coaching, defense, and a sprinkling of Dorsett and later Walker.

Not in the 80's NFC they were. Bears, Giants, Washington, 49ers-- these were all-timer squads you weren't going to roll by playing defense and hoping for the best in the 4th quarter. Parcells tried that shite and the Bears fucking blew him off the ball. You needed a complete team to win, and that started at QB.

Dallas leadership lost their edge and then got stubborn, crawling into a tank with fucking White. They should have drafted Marino or Esiason, but they kept thinking they were fine with White and Hogeboom.

FUCK. THAT.

Anyways, glad they bottomed out in retrospect, because had they not then the Triplets would never have happened.

They were fine with White. They made 3 straight NFCC games and could easily have won in 81 against the 9ers.

White wasn't the issue, at least not in his prime.

The issue at QB was they had no plan of succession once White started breaking down.

I cannot endorse your White slander.
