Cowboys Nostalgia Thread

I loved Danny White. I'm not going to say he's perfect but he was really really good.

White was the ultimate tease. He would pull out gutsy wins, and then have head scratchers. Last memory of White is poor Landry yelling “Nnnoooooo Daaannnnyyyy” as he shit the bed against the Niners.
That was hosting Washington for the division title in 1983. Really broke momentum back to Washington for good. We were in it, down 14-10 when instead of faking a snap and punting on 4th down, White pressed and snapped the ball, handing it off for a pathetic loss.

Landry screamed at White “No Danny!” in frustration. It basically shattered any semblance of leadership White had attained to that point and undermined Landry’s otherwise stoic cool.

That single moment made Dallas believe they were desperate and cemented Washington believe they were the best. They took over on downs, scored, and ultimately crushed us 31-10 taking the division.

Until that moment we had been the best team in the conference with only two losses and had beaten Washington at RFK.

The next week the 49ers whipped us 42-17 in a meaningless game. And then despite hanging tough for most of the game we lost to the Rams at home on the wildcard.

Landry benched White after that to start the next year, but by then the strength of the team had started to age.

So it was fucking Danny Whites fault. I was there, watching that shat unfold. White was not equipped to lead the team against the better teams out there.

Romo's back breaking turnovers at the worst times drove me crazy the majority of his career, but man when it all finally clicked for him was he good.

Even though most of his mistakes were his own doing, I still feel bad for the guy because he was stuck with Jason Garrett for the majority of his career.

THINK ABOUT THAT.

For the entirety of his prime, Jason Garrett was either his OC or HC.

At least Danny White played for Tom Landry!

Would he have been as good as Romo had he spent 9 years running Jason Garrett's offense?

Odd how a shitbag team like the Giants realized how bad Garrett was in 1/8 of the time that our brain trust kept him around.
Goooooo Jeruh!!

And Gary Fuckin' Hogeboom was?

That is the worst part of being fucked up for a quarter of a century is that a decade of that was fucking wasted on that complete fuck Garrett.

If you erased Cowboys-related memories, imagine how empty your brain would be

Most impressive if a collection of long passes with Irvin tackled inside the 5 yard line.

Yeah, those are all legit stops too.

@boozeman those plays hurt your argument that he stopped short on purpose for Emmitt.

:unsure

Eh, he stopped short for Emmitt plenty of times. It was all out of love, just like everytime he did score Harper was there to hump his leg.

And Gary Fuckin' Hogeboom was?

That impotent fucker was probably the reason they ignored QB in the 1984 draft and took LB Billy Cannon Jr over Boomer Esiason. Fuck that loser.

Hogeboom had this distinct release on the ball, but he was not accurate.

The only thing Hogeboom had going for him in the locker room was that he was not Danny White, who broke the locker room in two by speaking out against the ‘82 strike. That single act divided the Cowboys and fucked White’s career more than anything else.

White was good enough to play, but not good enough to win a championship. It had jack shit to do with the ghost of Staubach.

We squandered an enormous amount of talent behind White. Hogeboom was a blip
