Cowboys Nostalgia Thread

He raised some fucked up kids, man.

How despicable were we for playing starters that crossed the 1987 strike picket line?

Apparently no Eagles nor Washington players crossed

I keep reading that Eagles and Gibbs were sour on Landry for this, but also seems like we were far from the only ones.

Who benefitted from the better team (relative to rest of league at the time) - Aikman 92-93 or Staubach 77-78?

1978 Divisional Round en route to SB XXIII. Danny White staging 7-pt halftime deficit comeback with mid-game Staubach injury. 1:05:40 mark Eesh.

Imagine Da Nooch coming in to win a playoff game for us. :lol

Thanks for that! Great to revisit some old memories

So many thoughts in just a few minutes...

Jimmy the Greek sighting at 1:50 :lol Wonder what he thought of Irv's thighs... :unsure

Falcons unis were way better in red than the black Glanville brought in.

Roger looks like he's dead, obviously concussed, and Pat is so casual in, "Let's see if we can see where he got hurt...."

Didn't know Johnny Unitas was a sideline reporter!

I like that NFL logo at midfield.

I always wondered how long Landry's offensive play calls were with all that multiple motion before the snap.

He’s lucky he was a great player, because Unitas had the driest personality I’ve ever seen on the sidelines.

He’d always get cute with that RB shift timed with the OL stand. He really believed it made it harder for the defense to follow which back was where in the pro set. I think they where catching on by the late 70’s for sure, and it had become just a style thing by then.

The WR motion and shotgun were hugely helpful though of course and so are used by everyone now.

Ironically except the pre snap motion isn’t used by us today, because Kellen Moore is too cool for it

That's a hilarious picture. Apparently after the Denver super bowl and was quashed for like 25 years since they were pretty strict about co-mingling.

Both White and the cheerleader were married at the time. She says it was more a peck and the picture makes it look worse, but White was known in general for being a flirtatious personality.

Also, Landry called the cheerleaders "porno queens" :lol and Schramm "had a nose for spectacle, and beautiful women. I never heard rumors of anything untoward with the cheerleaders, but Schramm was known to get around. According to a story told by sports reporter Dale Hansen in Joe Nick Patoski’s book on the Dallas Cowboys, owner Bum Bright once complained that 'Tex Schramm spent more of my money buying goddamn houses for his girlfriends.'” :nodno

Fascinating.

Who is this a scouting report of?

Was going to guess that based on the 1988 Nebraska and Washington and you can see UCLA on the left...

That scout loves exclamation points like Jerry loves a microphone. Was that Garrett's old man who wrote that? Think maybe it was.

Jayne Kennedy was boner material back in the day.
