I think it was tens of thousands of people gathering at the Capitol for Trump's speech, and there were a few (very few if you consider tens of thousands of people were there) that caused 90% of the issues. I would classify it as a protest that got hijacked. Now, it is debatable whether the ones that hijacked it were Trump supporters or plants. So, yeah.

Would you call the marching on the Georgia state capitol a riot or insurrection? Hundreds of ACTUALLY ARMED people marched on that capitol and not a nary of word was peeped by the media. Weird?

And I'd bet 90% of those that claim that also say BLM burning down cities was a mostly peaceful protest

I'm not calling anything an insurrection, I'm trying to calmly respond to someone who believes it was and figured there'd be some good thoughts here

10 thousand people marched on the Capitol that day. Some morons broke a couple of windows and pushed through Capitol police to get into the building. I didn't see a single gun. If it were an insurrection wouldn't there be guns? I mean, you can't exactly have a coup with no guns against the tightest security on the planet.

It wasn't an Insurrection because that word implies taking over the government. No way was that happening -- obviously -- so it wasn't an Insurrection. It was a bunch of dummies who lost their minds causing damage, plus of course some who just wandered in because the police let them in.

Tell them the truth. They are using words that mean something completely different to try and get a more powerful response. Same thing with the whole Republicans are fascists bullshit, plucked a derogatory term that really doesn't apply and forced it in there to help them get a stronger response.

agreed, thats what pisses me off so much, deliberately incendiary words are used to divide and exaggerate what occurred and because people hate Trump and his supporters, they turn a blind eye to it without realizing the precedent being set or the long term negative consequences which will occur when we have a press advocating vs presenting the story in its most accurate and unbiased form
