It's just never Romo's fault, is it?
Of course Romo is having more difficulty getting the ball down field but the reason is the current receiving Corp. They are new. Austin was one of the biggest threats in the past. He is replaced by a good rookie who is still learning. Bryant is getting better with his routes but still has a way to go. Beasley is not a vertical threat and Harris is used sparingly. The down field passing game is in transition but will eventually get there.
I really think Tony has lost a step. I saw the KC game (and few others) and in that one he looked like he could barely heave the ball over the LOS.
That being said, I don't really understand what's expected of Tony. He got criticized huge for throwing that pick in Denver, so presumably he's playing too aggressive. He had a terrible completion percentage against Detroit, so getting rid of the ball is unacceptable. But he also shouldn't hold the ball and get sacked.
I guess anything short of having a pass to a wide open receiver on every play is unacceptable.
My guess is that either the coaching staff or Romo himself is holding Romo back intentionally for fear of making mistakes. They still get the ball downfield when they want to or have to. They just haven't wanted to as much.

Romo is like the Obama of football.

You do realize that if you have your best year then all of the other years are going to be considered worse than that? Geez. You think we were crucifying the guy. Compared to all of his other years this is not one of his better years. Sorry that kills your homer buzz but he can have a bad year and it still be good based on what he has done in the past.
It's pretty simple. If the question is, why is Romo not getting the ball downfield as much this year, and the offensive line has been better this year than in years past, then the answer to the question is not the offensive line.
Romo is like the Obama of football.

People were saying he was having one of his worst years. This is his 8th year as a starter and it's probably his 3rd best year at this point of the season. So you are wrong when you say this is not one of his better years. That's all I've been saying. Sorry I'm not going to be negative about everything Cowboys like everybody else around here.
Nope.
That's not the question, though.
I'm just saying the line still shackles us.
I look forward to this being something we agree on once Garrett is gone and you can see clearly without needing to assume everything I say on the subject is an excuse for him.
So of his 8 years as a starter this is his 6th or 7th best year? Ha.
Nope.

Half of his games have been sub par for his standards is all I need to know. Numbers get inflated with a few outstanding games but if you watch his throws you will see what we are talking about.
I've watched all his throws. As I've been saying his last 4 games there have been throws where you're thinking he should be making that throw and has made that throw. The first 5 games he was money. I think because his bad games have been the last 4 all in a row it's clouding your judgment (even tough he's won 3 of those games).
It's weird because all his good games were in a row at the beginning and all his not so good games have been the last 4. If it was the other way around you would have a different thought I bet. Or if it was 2 great games, an off game, two great games, and off game, etc.
That's exactly the question.
His accuracy has been down as of late, but he is far from having one of his worst seasons.
