Patriots and Titans probably would be the ones that stand out. A team like the Saints needs a QB soon but they won't do anything until Brees hangs them up.

I also don't know how it works. Can a team like the Dolphins jump on it and use the late first rounder they have? Or does it have to be their highest pick under the franchise tag rules. Would you take 18 and 27 for Dak for example? I sure as shit wouldn't.

Good question. I’d be hesitant, but if you could package the picks and move up. Dont forget you have 17 already. That’s some good ammo.

I could see teams like NO, NE, LV, and Tennessee having interest.

Putting my own reservations about Tua aside, I don't think it's as simple as his health vs overpaying Dak. No matter how good you might be convinced that Tua will be good there's still a chance he'll be a bust.

It's really just known vs unknown.

I feel like if a QB is good enough to command 2 firsts, he's worth holding on to in the 1st place.

So you package all 3 picks to move up for Tua. It's probably not enough for Burrow. Is it really worth it? Now you've traded Dak and pick 17 for Tua. Who is another hip injury away from retirement. And oh yeah by the way, now you don't have the 17th pick to improve the secondary, D-line or anything else. Yikes.

Correct...so we gain two 1st rounders for three 1st rounders total. We probably suck in 2020 without Dak and end up Top 15 next year 1st rounder and 2nd rounder.

That's five high draft picks to rebuild our defense and QB starter around.

Sounds better than giving Dak Prescott +$105M and going through 10-6 Wildcard year-after-year purgatory.

So to me tier 2 money is what would a tier 2 QB get on the open market. The most recent examples are Goff and Wentz. Both are a year old so I think legit tier 2 money is in that 34 mil a year range.

I think Goff and Wentz were paid Tier 1 money with the forecast they'd continue their ascension to be Tier 1 QBs.

Who is this QB you're building around? Because you didn't mention any of those picks actually going towards a QB? So now you just suck and have no QB. You better hope you finish with the worst record in the NFL next year and can get Lawrence otherwise you just wasted a whole lot of time to be 6-10 every season again.

Great question...This is all in response to those that don't want Dak for Tier 1 money, cuz Dak sure as hell ain't going for <$30M.

I stated "That's five high draft picks to rebuild our defense and QB starter around" meaning we'd take a QB with one of those five draft picks. I stated that we'd probably suck without Dak in 2020 and end up Top 15 next year's 1st & 2nd rounder. That would go towards a QB if you didn't draft/sign one this year.

I keep reading comments here about 'Zeke and Amari this' and 'OL that' enabling us to win with non-elite QBs, but haven't read any non-elite QB names they'd be confident going into the 2020 season with.

Yeah I don't buy into that at all. We've seen what other QB's have looked like here in Dallas with all these mega talented teams. Everyone not named Dak or Romo has looked even worse than imaginable. So I don't buy that we have some great system that can swap QB's in and out the way say the Eagles can do.

I saw somewhere that we ranked like 3rd in the NFL in offensive efficiency last year. I don't think the right move is to put a Brady or Rivers in that spot and expect a couple late first round draft picks to turn this defense around. By the same metrics our special teams ranked like 30th so you can see what was actually holding us back more than anything.

I'd take Dak over hoping a Jordan Love or Fromm type can become a top 10 NFL QB. But that's just me. I guess some here would probably say sign Brady, take the two last first round draft picks and use the 3 firsts this year for a corner, safety and DT. And then maybe the defense will turn around. But it's hard to project rookies like that. It can take a year or two before they really take off. And by than Brady is in the grave and you're relying on a rookie QB to pick up with a defense that is stellar and a offense that is suddenly old and out the door.

With the window we have no it makes way more sense to splurge on defense in free agency. Keep the talented offense together and fix the special teams. You can compete now with that type of a move.

Yup...and we've seen Denver and Washington go down this path with zero success. Avoid paying Brock Osweiler and Kirk Cousins and they've fielded Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch, Joe Flacco, Case Keenum (Broncos), Alex Smith (although respectable before injury) and now Haskins.

Minnesota Vikings may be the best comparable by signing Kirk Cousins, but they haven't reached the NFCC since letting Keenum go.

There is serious supply-and-demand competition for even Tier 2 QBs.

It’s simple, he doesn’t normally feel pressured to score every drive and carry the offense, let alone the whole team. He has awesome help around himand is not often pressured.

Watson feels that pressure to carry the offense, and he really does hold the ball too long and take sacks as a result. His defense has alternated from average to great, but when other teams score on them the pressure really ratchets up on Watson

Dak is a good one and he’s going to get paid

Weeden, Moore, Rush... these are scrap heap players. The greatest supporting cast around isn’t going to elevate them, especially with a coach like Garrett.

Dak is a mid-tier guy who hit the jackpot where he landed.

And we mostly hit it ourselves. We came a hairs breadth from panic-drafting Paxton Lynch as he “fell”.

Completely agree here except I wouldn't call him a mid tier guy. 18 months ago I would've, but he's gotten way better.

That literally makes no sense. Special teams suck, defense sucks, he runs one of the best offenses in the NFL and he feels no pressure to score? You're kidding right? Just because he has talent to work with on offense doesn't make the other units better? It instead should make him feel like he has to score on every drive.
