I think Murphy's standup was good enough to carry his legacy forward. Yes, he was in some stupid movies, but the man was golden on the stage.
 
Discovering standup comedy is an underrated phase in becoming an adult.

Probably did more to develop my levels of critical thinking than public school.

I asked myself this pretty regularly when my kids are pulling some bullshit ice cream out of the grocery store freezer.
 
Rickles was technically "clean" but I found him tedious. How many times can you call someone a hockey puck?
 
Norm macDonald. Ayuh or feh?

I hear he’s a comedian’s comedian and has mad respect within the industry. I don’t get it. I’ve seen him a decent shot — standup, SNL, guest spots and hes a strong feh for me.

I like Norm. He isnt my favorite but he provides a lot of laughs for me.

Funny, I think it’s the opposite. Most of Pryor’s movies are either hokey or just bad. When Brewster’s Millions is the best you can offer, you’re movie career is meh.

At least Murphy had Beverly Hills Cop and 48 Hours.

Just off the top of my head, along with Brewster's Millions, The Toy and Harlem Knights were great.
