Yep...and ESPN does not want their personalities to be huge unless they are from early ESPN. Both always seemed to be pushing the boundaries with them.
 
I have no idea why anyone listens to Cowherd anyway. All he really does is sit there by himself and give his opinion and "hot takes", right? I mean, I'm sure he does some interviews and such but he is essentially just some douchebag that likes to hear himself talk isn't he? I don't give a damn about what Colin Cowherd thinks about anything. Same goes with idiots like Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless. Why in the hell would anyone give a shit about what they guys think? They aren't really offering any analysis, aren't breaking any real news, etc. I just don't understand. I guess if someone is entertaining or actually interesting I can see it but that is generally not the case with these talking heads, IMO.

It's the Jim Rome schitck all over again, but I actually enjoyed Rome's show for a long time whereas I never really care for Cowherd.

I don't care for any ESPN personality for that matter.

As an actual provider of sports content with real substance, ESPN as a whole lacks.

The best guys they have are Van Pelt and Russilio, I like Lebetard and Jones as well.

Rome's local show in So Cal in the early 90's was excellent; as soon as his show was syndicated, it was all down-hill. That's about 20 years ago.

Pretty much agree with all of this. Cowherd is actually talented at monologue, but can't handle dialogue. I think Bob Ley still has a good gig on ESPN, I like Louis Riddick and Adnan Virk is growing on me. But, yes, ESPN doesn't want anyone bigger that the 4 letters now.

I like when a guy can carry a show, and not take drunk callers in the middle of the night, forcing me to change the station to people talking about aliens. But when a guy can't offer any real analysis and can't get any further into football than "Tony Romo is a choker." or "Tom Brady is a cheater!" and then his show boils down to saying the same thing over and over, I'm back onto ghost pyramids and secret lizard kings radio.

Bob Ley is good.

That's probably why he doesn't host his own 4 hour show. His discussions usually involve a lot of substance and it's some of the only real reporting that goes on at ESPN.

I remember listening to a lot of ESPN radio circa 2008/2009 because the boss I iad at the time always played in our IT bullpen.

Van Pelt was so boring and I remember wondering why someone so disinteresting got their own show. That guy cannot hold interest by himself.
 
Funny thing is, the one thing I do feel that ESPN covers well as a whole is soccer.

Their analysts, their shows, their coverage, etc. is all good.

That's probavly because it's the only team sport that the network tries to cover seriously.
 
I rarely watch espn. If there isn't a specific event on I flip right past that channel.

Plus, I just don't listen to the radio anymore either. I pretty much turned that crap off back in 2003ish when I overdosed on Rush and couldn't stand the dude anymore.
