This has been one of my complaints about the Cowboys in general. We just don't seem to rank all that many players. Even at the start of the draft our board just isn't very big and it seems like we don't rank some really talented players at all. The guys we have drafted in recent years seem to be very well scouted by us but I just don't get why you wouldn't have a draft board with like 300 names on it.

I would trade up for him if he falls anywhere close to our 4th round pick.

This is a great point. I refuse to admit that I'm not a draft guru, and I also refuse to admit that we would be picking in the top 5 every year... but it's most likely true. :lol

I'm more than happy to take that risk in the second round, especially with the horrible luck we have with the 2nd round picks in the past. I don't think any team does it differently with a billion gazillion guys on a board. Most probably rank their top guys that fit their system. Then we are waste time bitching about guys they didn't give a shit about because they didn't fit their systems.

System fit is what is not spelled out a lot in the draftnik world, although it is a hell of a lot better than it was years ago.
