Moore: Garrett reacts to news that the Cowboys want him to re-sign

What's interesting is how much Belichick failed his previous head coaching stop. I'm sure they wish they would have stuck with him.

He had a playoff appearance and was building Cleveland into a contender. Even had the Browns in first place before Modell announced the move to Baltimore.

Why people pretend he "failed" in Cleveland is beyond me.

And actually I think Garrett is less neutered this year than previous. Before this year he was saddled with Bill Callahan. Now he got to handpick an Offensive Cordinator he was familiar with to run his system. Sounds like he had more power than ever.

:lol :lol :lol

He didn't even want an offensive coordinator at all, he always wanted to run it himself, and has said so.

And now he's got less control than ever.

Maybe because he went 36-44 while HC. Is that a success?

Fisher took over a much worse situation and he's had terrible injury luck with Bradford. Nobody can win without a QB, which Garrett has had all along.

Plus they play in what has been the best division in football. Totally different situation than what Garrett has faced.

Don't hang your hat on Jeff Fisher. 6 winning seasons in 19 years, And last nights coaching performance was a very embarrassing exhibit A.

He didn't take over a good team and he finished on a massive losing streak thanks to Modell, not a success, but definitely an incomplete grade.

Bellicik is a lot like Jimmy Johnson. Under certain circumstances he produces winners and under different surroundings he struggles. There is no doubt that that Brady and crew over the years have been very key to his success. Having all the right ingredients on a team can only make a good coach look great. Some good coaches never get the right personnel mix for various reasons.

Personally I need to see how the team plays down the stretch before I commit to Garrett for another 3-5 years.

Of course Jerry and Stephen are easily impressed so that won't happen.

I just don't see how you can commit to the guy now when history has shown that September thru November has never been the problem. Closing seasons on a strong note has been Garrett's Achilles heel.

When evaluating whether or not to bring him back I think you have to put more weight on the December games. Finishing strong and getting over the hump has to count for something.

I'm new here, but are you also one of those guys who believed that dog and pony show when Garrett introduced Kiffin as his idea and not Jerry/Lacewell's?

If it was convenient for Garrett, he'd believe the moon landing was secretly filmed in a studio, on mars.
