2026 Random Cowboys Stuff Thread...

Just dreaming for a minute... Seriously doubt this happens, all those disclaimers.

But is there a way, really, we could get Todd Bowles as DC next year? Say the offense looks better the rest of the year like it probably will but the defense stays a disaster, or close enough. Bowles does have the former tie as a Parcells assistant, which Jerry always loves, and he probably will be fired after the year.

Or is there even a path for a different HC (obviously better) and Bowles? Tomlin and Bowles? Someone else?
Bowles as DC would be nice but we need a new head coach.

We need a lot of things that we don't get. :(

But I do think with a bad enough record even cheapass Jerry will get rid of him.

I agree that a bad enough record would do it, but bad enough for us and bad enough for Jerry are two different things. I would guess we'd need less than 5 wins, which I don't think will happen.

Something like that would be more palatable to me. I think this team desperately needs a defensive minded HC. I'd even hire Bowles as HC, although my preference would be Flores. I'd be perfectly happy pairing that with Adams as OC (although I'd let the new HC choose).

I think it's a worth a shot to try and salvage him.

His strength was being able to see that's in front of him and make plays on the ball and playing Safety would allow him to do that.

He's also a really solid tackler so that shouldn't be a problem for him in regards to playing the position.

Either way, he has no business playing as an outside CB anymore.

This is not accurate and goes to show how much he doesn't know about how the Jones family operates when it comes to ownership.

Money isn't the primary issue with our coaching hires, it's the amount of control a real coach would demand.

I said it weeks ago -- McVay, Reid, Payton, etc. could all offer themselves up for the job and take the lowest contract of any HC but under the stipulation that they get full control of football matters and Jerry would shoot them all down.

Man... I like Ameer Speed just fine so far, but we're literally his 7th team, including the Houston Gamblers.

Can we not act like he's the answer to anything?

I disagree unless I'm reading you wrong. I think money is by far the biggest issue with his coaching hires. Didn't he once publicly scoff at Payton's salary a few years ago?
