2026 Season | Week 5 | Gameday Chatter Thread | Bucs @ Cowboys | 10/08/2026

From what the announcers were saying that other teams would be doing the same per the mythical magical chart now. I dont get it but at least we wouldnt be alone.
I would have been ok going for two had the game been a back and forth scrappy-type situation where both defenses were playing well and it might come down to a play here are there. But that’s not the game that was going on, and if you are a NFL head coach you should be expected to see that. Too many brain farts with Schotty.

I'm over it. Yes I will bitch and I will get angry at Jerry and his impotent coaching hires, but overall, I'm done giving a shit right at this moment. For my own mental health, the rest of this season it's going to be dumb jokes and making fun of the team. You can thank Jerry for the dumb jokes. If it weren't for him I would just make a few dumb jokes, but now it will be a lot. :unsure

Whew…..back to normal.

They're equally terrible coaches who have no business being head coaches and wouldn't have been offered the position anywhere else on the planet outside of Dallas -- this is what those two morons have in common and that's ultimately what matters here.

Picking straws at which one is worse at X thing is a waste of time.

The bigger issue is that we're basically witnessing and living through another terrible era of Cowboys coaching all because the stupid family that owns this team can't bring themselves to hire respectable coaches because that would mean they would have to remove themselves more than they're willing to from the football equation.

Fuck that family.
This team has had 3 real coaches since it was established in 1960. Landry, Jimmy, and Parcells. That’s it. And even Parcells wasn’t the coach he was when he was here.

This organization wasted the careers of Romo and Witten. Ware too except he got a ring with another team. And now we’re wasting the careers of Dak and Lamb.

It’s sickening.

Tyron, Martin, Dez, and Elliott, and if he wasn't traded you could add Parsons to the list.

My biggest problem with this whole thing- you sit here as a fan and it’s not like the team is fucked up because of shit out of anyone’s control.
The team sucks because 1 guy (basically) simply refuses to step back, stay out of the limelight and give up control or turn the control of football operations over to people who could actually build a cohesive team.
The team is Jerry’s toy, and that’s all it is. He claims he covets winning above anything in this world, yet the actions clearly demonstrate he doesn’t. Thats the maddening part. We COULD be a SB contender in a season or two with competent football guys running the show. Could being the key word.

You can drive yourself insane as a hardcore Cowboys fan or sit back and realize until change is made at the top, there really isn’t much hope of going back to the glory years I think everyone on this board hopes for. It’s fucking sad man.

Going for the first 2 point conversion is the worst coaching decision I have ever seen, and around here we have seen some fucking bad ones. But, that one absolutely and unequivocally takes the proverbial cake.

I think it wasn't even the worst coaching decision that happened in the game because Bowles' decision to go for it on 4th at the goal line was far worse.

But I don't disagree that Schottenheimer's decision to go for 2 was really dumb.

But if you're comparing it to Dallas coaching decisions off the top of my head icing your own kicker is far worse.

I think McCarthy was a real coach too, but he had to work with one arm tied behind his back unlike the other 3 you mentioned.

McCarthy was never appreciated by this fanbase despite the fact that he had FAR more success than any other coach outside of the Big 3. And even then, he statistically surpassed Parcells by a significant margin.

I'm not saying he is/was better than Parcells because he's not, I'm simply pointing out that what he achieved in Dallas considering the circumstances he had to navigate through and around was mightily impressive so it never made sense to me why some were so eager to get rid of him knowing what type of coach we were likely going to hire to replace him -- I'm looking at you @bbgun !!!

So yeah, I'd give my left nut to get McCarthy back here right now because if he had the talent on both side of the ball that we have right now, we'd be 3-1 at worst.

That's the single worst coaching decision since Dan Campbell essentially did the same thing vs the 49ers in the NFCC a few years back.

If Bland catches that ball last night, Bowles is probably fired this morning because they would have lost the game. And dropping to 0-5, especially with a decision that horrific, most certainly would have cost him his job.

Tampa would have had like three minutes left, plenty of time to stroll down the field and win the game.

And let me add…if the Dallas media weren’t such freeloading Jerry cocklickers, they’d be on that old wrinkly ass motherfucker like white on rice, hounding and beating into his head what a POS football guy he is. Accelerate the aging process, bring on the massive heart attack, bring on that extra 10-15 drinks a week that might result in a stroke or a fatal fall off the Jerry-Yacht.
:unsure

Yeah but the momentum thing is real and I think Tampa succumbs to it....especially the young QB because in this scenario, he's just thrown a pick 6.

Maybe... But we gave up 241 yards rushing. Good chance this group finds a way to lose even with momentum.

Yep, I get that everyone is going to target the HC usually when things go wrong, and in this case rightfully so.

BUT, I think the real story is how bad Parker has been. It's been an abject disaster.
As people have said, not only is he too green -- and may never have it anyway -- but all his assistants are really young. He has no one older and more experienced to lean on or ask for advice on how to turn this around.

Looking back, it was the height of insanity that our fawning media actually spent a week or two worrying about who would replace Parker when he inevitably got a head coaching job next year. :lol :doh

And McCarthy.

Never should have let him go. And we only let him go because they're cheap as hell.

WTF is this?!

Why the fuck are we so far off the ball???

It's 3rd and 21 and we're essentially in a prevent cover 4..... WHY?!!!!

What the fuck is Christian Parker thinking here?!

Not only is that a terrible concept there (proving he learned nothing from the end of the Ravens game), but it also shows just how clueless he is.

This isn't 4th and 21 at the end of the game where you're hoping to get the final stop to seal it -- we're in the middle of the fucking game!

By playing that deep, you're automatically giving them the field goal when the intent there should be to stop them completely. And yet Parker is ok with automatically giving them 3 points!

He's so short-sighted that the only thing he's thinking of there is stopping them from converting the 21....he's not even thinking about the free 12-15 yards he's giving up on front of him.

What's worse is that it doesn't even stop them from converting because cover 4 there was a terrible idea. All you have to do in that shell is just wait for one of your guys to get into that space behind that first line and it's a free catch -- something Daniels was able to do there because there was no pass rush whatsoever.

This coaching staff is just absolute dogshit and there's nothing these players are gonna be able to do to overcome them.

And to make matters worse,

And McCarthy.

Never should have let him go. And we only let him go because they're cheap as hell.
And also because, reading between the lines a little, I think they wanted him to give up playcalling to Schottenheimer. I remember Belt claiming that all the good changes that happened that one year we started slow were due to Schotty.

All props to him for telling Jerry to stuff it.

Said that during the game... We played that almost like a Hail Mary for some reason. It's like they told the rushers to count to three before going for the QB. WTF?
