2026 Season | Week 5 | Gameday Chatter Thread | Bucs @ Cowboys | 10/08/2026

I will say that Garrett had a qb that could overcome a lot of his shortcomings. I saw a clip that a person that was inside the huddle with Romo stated that at times Romo would just ignore the plays Garrett called and just call his own.

Before reading back through the rest of the thread, and at risk of being timestamped multiple times over, here is how I feel right now.

You know, we talk a lot of times after a game about how a single play lost us the game, and the counter argument is, well we had the rest of the game to make up for it (Dez's non-catch is the perfect example). I am normally on the we had the rest of the game to win the game side of the argument, but not this time.

Daron fucking Bland lost us that game singlehandedly. He was to blame for a 14 point swing in the game. His two DPIs kept two drives alive for them resulting in the early TD. Then, this banana peel handed motherfucker dropped the game winning pick 6 that just about any high schooler would have caught. Those two instances lost us the game and he was at fault for both of them. Without him on the field we win that game last night.

Sure, we have coaching issues that don't seem to be getting any better, but that's a big picture problem. The office area in the Star where the coaches offices are should be vacant and completely cleaned out by EOB today. But, we are talking this one game. In spite of the coaches we could have won that game if it hadn't been for that POS, Bland. I now hate that motherfucker.

This is exactly the reasoning.

The math works but it's still fucking stupid.

It's better to take your chances in overtime than to put all your eggs in a two point conversion basket.

You give yourself way more chances by playing it straight.
You're at home, they're the ones who had to travel on a short week, if you do tie it up after being way down you necessarily are the team with the momentum... I just don't buy going for two there.

Of course, analytics people don't believe momentum exists, which if you've ever played sports at any level you know is laughable. These are human beings, not dice rolls or random numbers.

Annoying all the yokels in here talking about tennis is about the only thing I can imagine would bring me joy for the rest of the season.
The way I look at it, we (this board) can entertain ourselves the rest of the season making fun of the team. It will be kinda like watching a bad action flick. It's supposed to be serious, but it's so dumb, it's funny. That's how I kinda view the rest of the year right now.

Exactly right.

the best we could hope for is probably Zimmer
It's so bad right now, I would kill to get Zimmer back. In my entire life, I'm not sure I have never seen a more undisciplined team than this one. It's like they rounded up a bunch of people from the street, threw helmets on them, slapped them on the ass and told them to go try their best out there.

Going for the first 2 point conversion is the worst coaching decision I have ever seen, and around here we have seen some fucking bad ones. But, that one absolutely and unequivocally takes the proverbial cake.

I’m over the Schotty experiment. I held out hope longer than I should have. I was stupid to buy into the culture talk.

Jerry hired Schotty but he has also given him some pretty damn good personal.

We should be 4-0 right now. A decent coach would have us there. Schotty will probably let Parker take the fall but Parker was Schotty’s pick.

No excuse for this mess.

I’m a firm believer that ANY coach brought in under Jones is destined to fail.

But outside of the Garrett/Schotty comparisons it’s becoming clearer by the day that there’s a reason Schotty was never hired by anyone else as a HC. The guy is in over his head, and so is Parker.

From what the announcers were saying that other teams would be doing the same per the mythical magical chart now. I dont get it but at least we wouldnt be alone.

It's like trying to argue over what's worse, an F or an F-.

Just stop.

They're equally terrible coaches who have no business being head coaches and wouldn't have been offered the position anywhere else on the planet outside of Dallas -- this is what those two morons have in common and that's ultimately what matters here.

Picking straws at which one is worse at X thing is a waste of time.

The bigger issue is that we're basically witnessing and living through another terrible era of Cowboys coaching all because the stupid family that owns this team can't bring themselves to hire respectable coaches because that would mean they would have to remove themselves more than they're willing to from the football equation.

Fuck that family.

I dont see how you win in this league without a real defense.

The entire front office is the same way. Same with the coaching staff. It’s a bunch of guys that have no business running an nfl team. When you have a bunch of Jag coaches thrown together by a front office who look lost themselves you get this outcome.

Kind of knew when he cried at his opening press conference. This is one of the few macho games left, and you can't lead rough men by crying and friending them enough to hope they like you.

But as we all know, until and unless Jerry needs a new stadium, this is what we get.
