2026 Season | Week 3 | Gameday Chatter Thread | Ravens @ Cowboys (Rio) | 09/27/2026

I'll say this, if Schottenheimer is worth a single shit we win our next 3 and are sitting at 4-2.

Houston is 0-3 and struggling, they'll probably have Collins back but we're a better team. Mayfield will be out for Tampa, that's an automatic win. Green Bay is shit and missing starters everywhere, that's a game any half decent team wins.

Anything less than that and it's a straight up Garrett fest.

All this discussion about whether there was a second left? Them winning in regulation just saved watching them drive down the field and win the game in overtime, with the secondary in shambles and the defense being gassed.

I'm much more upset with the 1st and goal with plenty of time to win the game and utterly failing.

We could have scored a TD in overtime. But yeah, just fucking end it in regulation. Just no fucking balls.

Either he or Carson fucked up on the Ravens last TD to take the lead too.

They both followed the same guy to the outside when one of them was supposed to take the TE to the inside.

Here's the play I was talking about:

I haven't read back through the thread to see how everyone feels, but here is my take after sleeping on it.

The defense played well enough to win. The offense played well enough to win. The STs at least didn't lose us the game. This loss, and probably more to come down the road, lays solely at the feet of Schottenheimer. From the horrific play calling (we were killing them with the run and abandoned it at the 1 fucking yard line) to the peewee league level of clock management at the end. There is absolutely no blame to be placed on the players. They played hard, which was very nice to see. The want-to is there. And, to be clear, I am not blaming the coaching staff for this. I am blaming one person. The HC.

I was still holding out hope that Shotty would develop into a good head coach, but I am officially done with him now. I hope he is gone this offseason. The players showed they have the talent and the drive to win, but it's impossible to win if your HC doesn't squib kick the kickoff with 7 seconds left or allows the DC to play soft defense to allow a 30 yard completion or doesn't coach the players to not tackle the fucking guy immediately if he does catch that ball.

My rant is over and those are my two cents. We will never win shit with this guy as our HC. He needs to be gone.
ST's absolutely lost the game.

Multiple field position starts for them at the 35 and twice from the 40 without us even contesting. That's a free 15-20 yards of field position before the defense sees the field!

That final kickoff out of the endzone was like the fifth braindead call in a row-- another special teams blunder. And how about the blocking for that blocked 59 yard FG attempt that should have been us going for it anyways-- bad HC decision, but then extremely PISS POOR ST execution.

AARRRGGGH!!

Funny, but big picture this morning, I'm less mad at Schottenheimer, not more.

Was he to blame for last night, sure... He among others. But will anything change with the next guy? Nope. It'll just be another HC like him.

Will the next guy be hired because he's truly the best coach on the market? Nope.

Will he be able to practice the players as hard as possible in camp and get them ready in preseason games? Nope.

Will he be able to fire an obviously awful coordinator? Nope.

Will he change the brain trust's latest pet projects, like trading mid round picks for players other teams are getting rid of? Nope.

He'll just be the next stooge taking the bullets for Jerry on tough days Iike this one.

Happy Monday.

And this is the reality of being a fan of this team. It's also why I don't get mad when they lose anymore. Losses like this used to fuck me up until Thursday but becoming too emotionally invested in this team comes with a price: The owner/gm will never do the things that will give this team a legit shot of winning a championship. We have a large sample of evidence to support this. They value comfort over challenges and that permeates from the top all the way down to the bottom.

Going for that 59 yard FG was just another in the long list of moronic decisions Schottenheimer made. On its own it wasn't egregious but combined with everything else that happened it's obvious that he was completely lost from the jump.

We're down 4 on their 40 yard line with a shit field, either go for it like we did earlier, or punt it and try to help the defense out (who had been playing well enough up to that point) without giving them a short field.

A 59 yard FG attempt was the worst of the three options.

"He did not, in fact, have inside help."

I heard this in Morgan Freeman's voice.

Cover 1 Robber there is just crazy.

What is Christian Parker thinking there?

If you want to put an extra body on a guy or at least make it look like that's what you're doing, there are way better options for that than fricking Cover 1 Robber.

Cover 3 Match would have been way better and it also would have left less of a window on a deep crossing route.

Not that I ever expected much from Von Miller but the young guys (EZ and Lawrence) are creating pressure far more often than he is and I think it's time to consider cutting him or significantly reducing his reps.

I honestly would rather play Houston over Miller at this point and think he should only be playing 5-7 snaps a game at most.
