Thank you. If we're being honest, even if you were to be able hypothetically to get the best CB in the league I doubt it makes the defense a ton better.

But Pickens does that for the offense.

Yup.

And then when you consider that our running game is nothing to write home about, we need every offensive advantage we can get.

Trading that guy away right now might damn near cripple the offense.

I actually didn’t mind the defensive scheme today. If you aren’t going to sack the qb(we’re not), you can play your line 2 ways: just engage blocks and wait for the quarterback to either run or sit back there and complete a pass ….or rush hard and risk 70 yards rushing from the qb.

We chose to rush and make him beat us with his legs and he did. Until his arm fell off.

We don’t have the players to sit back and hope the qb doesn’t beat us with his legs or have forever to pass.

Same thing will happen next week against Lamar as well. You can’t rush the qb and expect to not leave any gaps for some of these guys to run through. They are alien type athletes.

Is it ideal? No, it’s not. It’s not a winning strategy in the long run. In theory you eventually get better players and then you can designate some to play safer and watch for qb runs. But if we don’t risk a little bit of lane gap, we’re not ever moving these quarterbacks off their spot.
