I disagree. I don't think it would say anything about our contender status.

NFL teams often have anomalies in week 1 nowadays, especially teams like us who basically don't use preseason games to get our main players prepared for week 1.

For example, both super bowl teams from last year lost week 1, including the Patriots losing to the raiders of all teams.

The only thing I would say to that is you've got a new coach and it usually takes some time for a new coach to get their footing. I don't know if you can expect the Giants to be completely ready for week 1 under a new staff. On top of that we are just a much more talented team. We should not lose that game.

But it's the NFL and sometimes the better coached team beats the more talented team. Sometimes the less talented team wins because the more talented team makes some mistakes. So there is always a who knows factor. But if the Giants come out and punch us in the face week 1, I'm going to be very concerned about the Cowboys and their level of preparation for the season. Maybe too much GOTI and reliance on the idea that the offense will just roll without any real effort to improve that side of the ball.

Yea I'm not too worried if we lose, unless it's some sort of hellacious ass whipping where the defense looks about as bad as last year.

If we lose some random 24-21 game I won't be too concerned given how the NFL is, and week 1 particularly as you say.

Our OL is plain sus without Tyler on the left.

I don't expect Dak to hit the ground running, though the 'hit the ground' part might be accurate.

The Giants have four high-pedigree pass rushers and if I were them I'd unleash all four every 2nd or 3rd and long.

I agree, my guess is it was sort of an age thing. Keegan is younger and has some draft pedigree to him. But ultimately I have faith that Leverett can backup center and guard respectably. I also think Cornelius had an excellent preseason. So I actually have some faith in him at guard as well. Tackle is really the position that actually concerns me.
