I have not let on but I have been battling what I thought was a several dental issue since mid-July, but it is a lot more than I bargained for.

After a lot of tests, scans, uncertainty, and waiting for answers, I’ve received some difficult news: I’ve been diagnosed with cancer. Specifically of the jaw. It is Stage 4, but has not metastasized yet.

This is not the news anyone wants to hear, and there’s still a lot ahead of me. I’m taking things one step at a time and focusing on what I can control—getting the right treatment, staying positive, and doing everything I can to fight this.

I know there will be difficult days ahead, but I also know I don’t have to face them alone. The support, prayers, encouragement, and kindness from family and friends mean more to me than I can put into words.

I’ll share more as I know more. For now, I’m asking for your prayers, positive thoughts, and continued support as I begin this next chapter.

I’m ready to fight.

I am so sorry, brother. You got this. You are bullheaded enough nothing as puny as cancer can beat you. You know you have our full support and backing. I wish there was something I could say to make it feel better, but I know that's not possible. You will absolutely have mine and my full family's thoughts for you through this time. And, yes, please keep us updated as you know more. And always know we are here for you for anything at all you may need, even if it's me posting stupid shit to make you facepalm to keep your mind off of it.

Sorry to hear this. Im on pretty good terms with the man upstairs and I will definitely send some words for you. If there is anything else I can do such as a Chuma reference or Guardian cap issue to lighten your day just let me know. We can at least try and keep your mind busy.

Good thoughts.

The fun thing is that hottie boss is now on the sympathy train. She is all like concerned and shit.

The worst is the hopes and prayers from people who don’t give a shit about me showing off their concern. Oof.

I start chemo on Friday. Then another dose later in the month before surgery on 10/1. It is pretty aggressive but I have confidence in the medical people. I will have a bone taken out of my tibia to replace my lower jaw and some flesh to spackle tissue in there. I am looking at being all fucked up until Christmas. Eating through a tube and shit. No bueno.

It'll probably be an improvement. :unsure

Sorry, I suck at this.

You are fucking A right, you are.
You know I kid. I didn't realize they were going to have to do all of that. But, I know you will get through it and come out good on the other side. I'm glad they are being aggressive. Nip it in the proverbial bud and hopefully just do one round of this.

The cancer ain’t fucking around. The worst part is I did it to myself with smoking and drinking.

That really sucks but I'm sure you'll rock it. Keep us posted and obviously if there is anything any of us can do to help we will. Additionally I'm going to need you to get healed up by draft time next year. I'll need someone to tell me how all the players I like suck ass.

some terribly sobering news...very sad to hear it, my friend.

But I also know that advances are made daily in the battle, so it's great that you have faith in your medical support team.

Thank you for sharing this with us, as unsettling and uncomfortable as it is.

You're basically our Grandpa and we'll be battling with you however we can.

Sorry to hear that, bud.

I will definitely be sending prayers you and your family's way.

I think you have the right attitude, though. I've always heard that those who have the best chance to beat cancer are those with a positive and determined mindset, and it seems like you've got that part down already.

Hang in there, Boozer!
