This is my biggest question and have stated that since the news came out. It wasn't just a neck injury. It was bad enough he had to have surgery, and any time you have to have surgery to correct something structural in the spinal cord it gets dicey on recovery and trying to get back to what you once were. He may come back fine. There's just no way to know that.
 
Yeah the neck is a huge issue. Fusions seem tricky. Sometimes they work, but they always transfer more stress to the vertebrae below it.

Read somewhere this guy had poor work ethic also.

The compensation isn't that much if the guy can play, but the question is, can he. I mean, people throw out the "he's started x number of games", but so has Steele.
 
I don't know about you guys, but this is great. To get to argue/discuss something which will probably turn out to be trivial (I hope) in the big picture is so awesome. It means football is back, baby! Let the bickering commence! :towel

If this trade follow the Colombo trajectory I will be very happy with this trade. Colombo started multiple years for us and was solid.
 
But, the IF part is what makes me nervous. But, like Geng said, even if he craters and never does shit for us, we didn't give up the world for him.
 
Columbo had a leg injury and Parcells told him take your time, heal up and get your strength back, and then we'll see what you can do. He also had a strong work ethic. Not the same situation at all.

It's not, and it was a dumb comparison. But, if (huge if) this trade can turn out like the Colombo signing it would be a good trade.

Yeah I call it a fourth round pick because thats roughly the value of dropping from the third to the fourth round. The sixth round kicker is just annoying to me but it's a real crap shoot by then. But to me a sixth is more the going rate for a first round bust. Which is what he is right now.

But it does make some sense that if a draft is strong at the top, the lower rounds should be better.

What happens when the opposite happens and a draft is weak at the top? The middling players get pushed up.

I think the Steelers are full of shit. But Dallas probably did call them. I think Dallas was desperate for a swing tackle. Shelton wasn't as ready as they thought and Nate Thomas somehow went backwards.

Steele sucks and Guyton gets hurt. I'm not hating on Dallas getting an OT. Just hating on the costs for the quality/length of contract/injury concern with the guy we traded for.

The bickering was gonna happen regardless. I'd rather have the picks back. At worst, we should have traded a player for Jones.
