They seem to feel okay about Guyton, but not so much on Steele, Thomas needs to be cut and the kid from Penn State needs a phantom injury. We might have enough pass rush to get by, but our OTs....geez. Could be a season killer.
It's honestly amazing how this team is literally incapable of finding a day 3 OT (or really anything outside of round 1) who is worth a damn.
They're pretty solid on the interior with guys like Bass, Biadasz, etc., but they take a OT almost every god damn year on day 3 and they all wash out almost immediately.
2026 - Shelton is TBD but chances are he won't be great
2025 - Cornelius has already been moved inside
2024 - Thomas looks on the verge of being cut, definitely teetering
2023 - Asim Richards was cut within about 2-3 years
2022 - Matt Waletzko, i.e. pure ass
2021 - Josh Ball, also pure ass
Six straight years taking a day 3 OT, and quite possibly (probably?) six straight years of pure busts. I'm not even expecting a guy who can start, but you can't even find a half decent swing OT?
A monkey throwing darts couldn't do worse.
It was a dumb move considering Shelton really can't play, this year at leastRichards wasn't cut, he was traded to the Saints, where he's still there as a backup OT and we would be lucky to have him back. Stupid fucking decision to trade him and whatever they didn't like about him and instead liked about the shitboxes we kept over him, is clearly endemic to the issues that we have evaluating OTs.

Trade him because we were gonna cut him, what does that change? We kept Cornelius, Keegan, some other schlub at OT instead of him. Richards was far better than all of them, probably better than Nate Thomas too.I mean he was traded before we cut him. We didn't trade him while being a top backup here.

The decision that those other guys were worth more was stupid and incorrect and they have no ability to evaluate late round OLs clearly.
He’s not “just as much a part of it” because he’s clearly better than Keegan, Cornelius, Hakeem Adeniji, etc. You can’t put these guys on the field.Technically I think we dumped him and claimed Keegan from the Eagles to be exact.
I agree we do poorly evaluating day three Olineman. Especially OTs. But Richards is just as much a part of that.

Richards is actually a competent swing tackle.
Yes, he is, and far better than the guys they chose over him.Is he? According to PFF he ranked 85th out of 89 qualifying OTs last year.

GO HEELS!how can you say he's far better
He's barely played in New Orleans and is maybe only marginally better than complete busts like Waletzko and Ball, how can you say he's far better when he's never done anything to suggest that he is?
