2026 Cowboys Preseason Week 1 Gameday Chatter Thread | Cowboys @ Seahawks | 08/15/2026

The second half is live on NFLN if anyone wants a cheap thrill.

Overall, it was good and bad.

Both QBs were about the same. That is not to say they were bad, we have seen worse out of the likes of Cooper Rush and whatever dork we signed for God knows how long.

I expected a shitshow with the OL and damn, after another watch in the first half, it was about as ugly as I expected.

All of them were mediocre, Nate Thomas was particularly horrific. Shelton? They as well start thinking of a phantom injury that would allow them to stash him in IR. I realize the issue with him was strength, but damn...he got walked back by not so great talent.
Leverette as a C was not that bad though. Depth is a problem.

The Brown heroics were quite impressive. Trigg is fun to talk about, but he just looked raggedy. He got production and tried on blocking, nothing special.

The DL was meh. Houston was the best guy out there. Loofah? Okay, I will give him props for his energy.

Curtis Robinson was a great addition. ST and he can function on a short basis in the middle.

The secondary was solid except for the fucking Seat Belt.

The CBs looked a little more coordinated and looked like they had a plan.

Unfortunately it appears Nate Thomas took up smoking crack last offseason. :sad

A 4th cornerback you can trade for, but not a swing tackle. They're too valuable. Face it: we're stuck with Thomas.

For a first rounder, he still looks raw. He still leaves a millisecond or two on his get off at the snap. That is still a thing.

I didn't see the game, only the highlights in this thread. I don't disagree with you.

But other posters seem to be writing him off already which is silly.

I'm just pointing out that there's observers who seem to think he played well.

He didn't do that in college, at all. I seriously think he is overthinking things right now, and making him learn the strong side while also adjusting to the speed of the NFL at the same time is making him think more than react with his natural athleticism. He does need to learn the technique, not saying that, but I believe they are expecting too much too fast from him. Again, I am not worried about him one bit.

His problem with false steps was citied by many draft analysts.

You need to do more research before you show up with weak sauce like this, citizen.
You said he had problems with his get off and that was absolutely not true. He does need the false step coached out of him but I watched that dude get into the backfield before the OL had even moved on many of his highlight videos.

The shithead Seahawks announcer claims that Prescott sucks, he had the best OL, Elliott and of course, DeMarco Murray. :dunce

Dude. Look it up, admit you were wrong and take a lap gracefully. Does it not dawn on you that false steps is a part of the whole process?

Getting Mazi vibes and not expecting real production in year one is not “writing him off”

You can give off Mazi vibes without being a bust, you just have to keep grinding

But he’s not where we’d hoped a 1st round pick would be at this point.

He is nowhere near Taco Mazi territory. He would have to actually regress to hit that level of suck.

Because we know how Mazi ended up. But we didn’t when he started. All we saw at the start was a guy with no get off.

And we’re seeing a delayed get off from Lawrence right now.

Explosive first step and closing burst create immediate pressure off the snap.

Explosive take-offs matched by explosive close-outs.

Good get-off, reacts to the snap well and has good acceleration off the line of scrimmage to threaten offensive tackles with speed around the edge as a pass-rusher

He does need to work on the false step on some plays, but to say he doesn't have an explosive get off makes you look like a fool. You take a lap, jackass.

Just because he did it in his college highlight reel (and not consistently in college, mind you) doesn’t mean he can do it at all in an NFL setting. And he didn’t last night. At all.

I didn't say he could do it in the NFL. My original statement was very clear. "He didn't do that in college, at all" replying to Booze saying he was leaving late. I don't believe I even once said or even implied it is going to translate to the NFL.
