It was panned because people think you can get a perfect OT prospect in the fourth round.

It was always obvious he needs time to develop and that the coaching he got in college didn't do him favors.

It's also obvious he has traits that you could potentially work with and if he hits it could be a big hit.

We'll see but it was unrealistic to think he'd be ready to start out of the gate.

I mean, we took two of those guys, Pounds has significant athletic limitations as well as poor technique and is certainly far from a sure thing. We'll see about Lance but he's not a sure thing either and would probably not see the field for us much more than Shelton this year.

The kid needs to get serious about weight training and being aggressive with his punch. Going to be a while.

They drafted him because he could play OT, he just can't do it vs NFL power and speed yet.

He is a purely developmental shot in the dark due to his athletic upside. I am not holding my breath.

Parker again with the impressive PC. Haven’t felt this kind of energy on the defensive staff since— I can’t really recall.

Landry had Stautner and Stallings and could take command seamlessly at any point of that whole side of the ball. I never got to see him when he was young, only growing a young talented team after the big stars from the 1971 team left. Hit the jackpot with Ed Jones, Harvey Martin, and Randy White.

Waanstedt had a lot of good young coaches on his staff, and maybe that’s the closest comparison, but where Waanstedt had this college energy and experience, Parker is bringing this teaching factor in and influences from all kinds of pro coaches and if anything might have even more energy. Jimmy traded for a bunch of guys Brandt was too stubborn to find, drafted well thanks to extra tries from the Herschel trade, and made the most of the best players from Landry’s teams that weren’t yet over the hill like Bates, Norton, He nines, and Jeffcoat. They fixed the defense in short order, hitting the jackpot with guys like Casillas and Haley.

Parcells was only here long enough to coach up situational football and throw together a longterm blueprint that other ‘fixit’ people realized. We were lucky we hit so big in that 2005 draft to combine with his FOBs. That formed the bedrock of decent but flawed defenses in the late 00’s.

Quinn brought in the experience from Seattle and his Atlanta days and had his own kind of competence, but he didn’t have the youth and young, competent staff. It was more like he had guys who could implement his schemes that generated pressure and caused turnovers but sacrificed stoutness and steady coverage technique.

I’m feeling none of that compromise from Parker. He wants to stuff the run, rush the passer, stifle receivers, cover TE’s, grow young leaders, and create a culture of innovation— basically do it all and do it all well.

Really excited to see what takes shape. We’re only missing 1 or 2 difference-makers on the pass rush and in coverage, thought it seems we have a plethora of above average pedigree.
 
Love hearing Parker talk about physicality. I want a defense that fucks the other team up. Make that WR feel that hit coming, and then deliver it. Love it.
 
Both coordinators are impressive. Still think I'll wait for a few actual games to be played before crowning Parker, but everything seems good so far. And Adams makes me feel like for the first time in forever we aren't taking a knife to a gun fight when going against the McVays of the world.

I like Adams even though he noted the positive impressions MaFEH has made.

Yeah but apparently he's projected to make the Ravens as a UDFA.

He's a mauler and doesn't seem to fit the athletic profile we want but I think he'll be a starter.

But the real thing is that New Orleans is apparently thrilled with Lance so far, and we could use another young WR so we can ditch the Valdez Scantlings, Mims and Mingos of the world.

I took Pounds quite often in the 100 or so mocks I ran before the draft. Always thought he could be a late round steal

I could name a lot of players I wanted over Shelton with that pick. But no point now, Shelton hopefully will develop unlike basically all the OTs we have drafted on day 3.

It was way too early, IMO, but you've gotta believe the Cowboys had the pulse of the league to think Shelton was on enough other teams' radars that they needed to draft him where they did.

But man, there was clear talent on the board, especially at CB. What are we missing most on defense? Pass Rusher, CB.

If Shelton isn't at least our swing tackle in 2027, we fucked up.
