It's odd to me that they don't understand why he took the Fifth so many times. I don't think it was about the legal liability so much, as he did have the pardon. I think it was because if he told the truth, all his lies and contradictions would be exposed, and his beloved status as hero to the left could be in jeopardy.
 
It is pretty regrettable looking back but golly gosh we beat it with the vax and it had no impact on society at all. Just forget about it. Yeah.

This dumbass diary is really what screwed him. Otherwise he could just claim ignorance. It was a weird time, he thought what he was saying was true even though it wasn't. But the diary that's literally being written at the same time as things are going on tells the true story of the evil shit going on in this mans head.

And yet he is saved by some fucking auto pen signature that literally could have been done by anyone. Really makes no sense.
