2026 NFL Coaches/GMs Firing & Hiring Thread

I have always thought it a bit weird to hire your GM after the draft. Never made sense to me, but it seems like it happens every year.
There are things called contracts and they have stipulations.

What? Wow.

Not that I've followed his career or anything, but I do know that the media have sold Evero as a top young coordinator for years now.

Yeah, I always was a little skeptical of the idea that you shift coverages right at or after the snap to confuse the QB rather than the first priority being busting protections and getting to the QB. Maybe Fangio can do that, but that doesn't mean it's that easy to transfer.

Too bad Parker wasn't more influenced by Vance Joseph (a Wade disciple of course).

I think you need both. We have seen the pressures get instant pressure but it doesn't work if the QB can see the obvious wide open receiver to get the ball to. The Packers game was a master class in this. We blitzed, we went after their QB and every time he had an instantaneous answer to the pressure.

On the flip side you can do all kinds of exotic stuff in coverage but if your front 4-5 guys aren't being cut lose to fly after the QB, those coverages aren't going to do anything. Because with enough time the weakness in your coverage will become obvious to the QB.

Anyway, I'm done being frustrated by the defense. I think the whole concept that Parker has preached of stopping the run first and earning the right to rush the passer has backfired. The run defense has been super inconsistent. And then when we do force teams into passing situations it feels almost like an automatic first down because of either a blown coverage or penalty. I wish we would take on the concept of blitzing, and being physical with the receivers at the line of scrimmage. I love the idea of throwing guys off their routes knowing that the QB won't have the time to be patient and beat that physical coverage. But that is not the identity that we appear to be going for.

Parker learned from the master

This is yet another reason why I keep saying that DBs are overrated. Stop the run and sack the QB and DB play is suddenly good. A pass rush is what matters, not a fucking CB.
