2026 Draft Week Chatter Thread...

What’s special about Shelton?

Pounds is a developmental tackle with road grading traits. I see a solid RT if he hits. Could move to guard as well.

Would rather have had the combination of Lance and Pounds than Shelton and Smith.
Yeah in a relatively weak class, Shelton did not stand out and pretty much went where he was supposed to. I am not impressed. He will make the team but I am not expecting more than an Asim Richards-type impact.

Who thinks this?

They said they want to become like the 33rd NFL program, mostly leaning how they approach things like training and nutrition.

But people gonna pile on when you fail and Belichick has sucked at UNC so far, so it is what it is.

Shelton has pretty rare movement skills/athleticism but was never able to keep weight on seemingly, often playing at barely 300.

I think Shelton was talked about as a possible first rounder coming into the season based on that athleticism.

I don't think he was an amazing pick but he definitely has some traits.

Yeah I’m not saying he is nothing, but, I wanted an amazing pick. I wanted a home run fourth round. Overton is a very good pick. I think the other two were just ok.

Selecting Lance would have been a home run. He was available instead of the Shelton pick. Or the Moore pick I guess, but of the two I like Moore better.

I feel like if you gave me one more steal like Lance, I really like this draft.

I agree about Shelton being a somewhat disappointing pick but I think Moore was a really good one. He was in the same class roughly as a guy like Muhammad and if it wasn't for the injuries earlier in his career he would've been a day 2 pick.

If I could I'd swap Shelton for one of the RB's and I think it would've been an excellent day 3, but I'm also not going to fret too much about one 4th rounder when mostly everything else was really good.

Retract your claws. I was just asking because I knew nothing about him.

Solid draft, looking forward to seeing Barsham move to ILB. No one happier than Reddy Stewart, his roster spot is secure.

Shelton was the worst pick for me. Especially with it coming with our first of 3 fourth round picks. I don't like OTs that are weak and he looks weak to me. I don't like his arm usage and despite being a good athlete he takes sort of poor angles when blocking on the move. Hopefully someone sees something I don't.

That first fourth had some many possibilities but instead I see a guy who is going to be the fifth OT on the roster. I don't like him more than Nate Thomas. And I don't like him more than Cornilius.

If the idea is, well we will move one of them to guard then just draft Jalen Farmer who is kind of a badass guard prospect.

RB or WR would have brought better value to the team there in my opinion. And you could have had Washington who was basically the concensus third RB in the draft. But instead when we went to bed on day two the team was dreaming of having a chance at Shelton with a highish fourth?

They really needed to hit a home run in the fourth and instead it was more like a single or even a sacrifice bunt to advance a runner.

Overton was great.

I think I would have taken WR Bryce Lance with that first 4th rounder. And if you wanted a developmental tackle, Pounds was there as your 7th. Then you still come away with a tackle and WR. That probably bumps it up to an A for me.

The more I think about it the more I feel they botched the fourth a bit and they really needed to hit it out.

I think Moore and Overton were very good picks and will help us a lot.

Shelton is perfectly fine as a mid round developmental tackle, but even if he busts a 2/3 hit rate in the 4th is pretty good.
