The Olympic Games Thread

Cok juice and ass ice cream.

I don't even want to know what you were looking for when you found those.

:lol

I wonder how many curlers there are active in the US. I mean, if I were to get my child training to be a curler relatively early, I would be almost guaranteed to have an olympian on my hands some day, right?

Well, they'd still have to be good enough to qualify.

And avoid the life time of ridicule and possible beatings while training.

In Soviet Russia...stones curl you.

Hahahahaha

Being the best in a given country isn't good enough. In 1990, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) instituted what became known as the Eddie the Eagle Rule, which requires Olympic hopefuls to compete in international events and place in the top 30 percent or the top 50 competitors, whichever is fewer.

I would think you'd be more supportive, as a Nordic-American.

I'm interested in the hockey, and only because I like hockey. Couldn't care less otherwise.

I like quite a bit of it...slow sports season, so this is good.

Agreed.

There are a lot of events that I otherwise would never watch, but I appreciate the effort these athletes put forth to have one shot at reaching the top of their sport every 4 years.

If they had Olympic ice fishing, I'd be all over it.

Skidding rocks across the ice doesn't really do it for me.

Speaking of Olympics and ice fishing, is there still an Olympic beer.

Olympia beer? If that's what you're talking about, then yeah, I think so.

Yeah I think that is what I was referring to. It and Hamms beer used to represent a great deal of tv advertising in the 50s and 60s. Some were about ice fishing and sitting around a fire in a hut on a frozen lake. That's what reminded me about it.

Got a nice fill of hockey today. Olympic hockey is just so much better than NHL.
