2026 Cowboys Draft Chatter Thread

I think the Cowboys finally broke Ernie. Havent seen anything from him in awhile.
I think he kinda got cancelled when he "reported" that the news about Marshawn Kneeland was fake and that he could confirm he was alive and well.

Not that it was needed, but him doing that confirmed that he was a total phoney and the backlash was so bad that even The Ernster was too ashamed to come back after that.

Maybe he's back now...I don't know? But he definitely got quiet for a while after that.

Dumbass.

I remember him being an ass then but I apparently missed his online suicide pretending to be an insider on whether or not Kneeland passed. Makes the dickery bigger.

At first I was like, what a classy way to let Ernie off the hook with such a gentle statement.

And then...

Fuck that guy.

He was annoying enough with pretending to be an insider, but carrying on with that charade when it came a player's rumored death (at the time) and outright lying about knowing he was ok in hopes that guessing right would make him look better is just despicable.

I'm glad that goof got cancelled like he deserved.

Yeah, the abuse he was receiving on twitter from people was relentless and rightfully so, and I'm guessing it just got to be too much so he just hid away out of shame.

Oh, I'm with you. That was terrible. He should have been roasted over and over. It's just your statement read like two different reactions. It made me chuckle.

I just looked and I think Ernie may have completely deleted his twitter account. Or, at least, I can't find it, and there are a bunch of deleted tweets in the Dur Thread which had a lot of Ernie's tweets in it.

Yeah, told ya.... He caught so much shit from that that he disappeared and apparently never came back.

This is a no brainer, right? You would think, but 45% of our fans selected Crosby. :picard

This was something Schefter mentioned this morning and is the main scenario I'm looking out for as far as a potential move up.

Unless Arizona wants to trade down for a deep discount (which I could see depending on how bad they want Simpson) I don't think going all the way up to 3 is realistic.

What is realistic is going up to 6, and if if Styles makes it past the Giants or the scenario like the one below plays out with either Reese or Bailey (probably Bailey), then I could see us moving up.

If it all goes chalk with Reese/Bailey going 2/3, and then the Giants taking Styles at 5, I doubt we move up except maybe something small to 9/10 if they love Downs, Delane or Bain.

For what it's worth, there's been growing chatter about Love to Arizona if they can't move down. Could just be BS attempting to convince the league they're not desperate to move down, but it's interesting either way.

One long-shot scenario to keep an eye on

There are draft surprises every year, with players going in spots no one forecasted. Here's one that, depending on how the first few picks play out, has generated some speculation in a handful of front offices.
  • If the Jets take Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey at No. 2, which many believe will happen ...
  • If the Cardinals then take Love, which appears to be gaining some traction ...
  • And if the Titans then take Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles, which is one of Tennessee's options ...
Then Ohio State edge rusher Arvell Reese -- or Bailey, if the Jets take Reese at No. 2 -- could slide to No. 5. It would suddenly be very tempting for a team such as the Cowboys to potentially trade up for a top-tier pass rusher. Again, the draft would have to go a specific way for this scenario to play out. But two teams raised this scenario this weekend, wondering if it somehow could unfold this week. It's exactly the type of scenario that makes the draft so compelling.

A lot of talk this morning on Get Up about Tyson going top 10, which would be extremely fortuitous for us. Hopefully there’s some legit league sentiment behind this talk.

So one of the pass rushers falls to the Giants and we assume they will allow us to move up for the player without drastically overpaying?

The Giants won't take either of them so my thought is moving up to 6.

If someone jumps the line and moves up with the Giants, so be it.

The big thing I'm wondering about right now is how much does the team like Bain?

Because if they like him, I could easily argue that you should just hold tight and see what happens around 9-10. I think Delane could possibly slip to 12 but Bain seems the most likely when reading the tea leaves.

If they don't like him for whatever reason, that's where I think you'd have to be a bit more urgent about moving up or back at 12.
