The Athletic reported it.

The New York Giants have agreed to a trade to send Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals in a deal that sends the No. 10 pick in next week’s NFL Draft to New York, a league source confirmed to The Athletic.

Nevermind.

So the Giants can now draft Styles and Downs.

Awesome.

I don't think it matters whether the Bengals or Giants were picking at 10, neither of them were going to make it to 12.

If anything this makes it more likely that one of those picks is offense, whereas before the Bengals were 100% going defense one way or the other.

The bigger thing is that the Giants are now down their best player on an already very meager roster to begin with.

Why not? Gives you a chance to improve the team this year, and no guarantee you'd get a top 10 pick in '27 if you waited until after the draft.
I didn't say anything about after the draft. Was just questioning more on the Bengals doing it before the draft. Before they knew who would be at their spot. Pretty sure the deal would still been on the table for them when they went on the clock.

On the other hand I HATE that they are picking twice in the top 10.

I wasn't looking at it from who would be there for us. But as the Giants getting two young, cheap studs to build their defense around.

They obviously liked Lawrence (a proven NFL commodity) way more than any of the kids who might fall to 10.

The rumor is that they're going to use one of the picks on a WR, specifically Tyson.
I wouldn't be surprised if they took Tate at 5 now, then pick from whatever was left of the 6 defensive guys at 10. Or if they're enamored with Tyson, could take Styles at 5, then trade down a bit from ten and still get Tyson.

we'll see

Yea there was no chance the Bengals were going offense, at this point I think you have to guess it's at least 50/50 that one of those picks is offense given their interest in the WR's and OL.

But I also think there's very little chance any of the top 6 defensive players are there for us except Bain.

Pick 10 seems like a steep price to pay. But I guess if they didn't think pick 10 was as valuable in this draft as other drafts it makes some sense.

I hope the Giants fuck this one up like most of their top 10 picks in recent history. They could really use a man like Keldric Faulk on the Dline now. You know, to fit that new scheme and all.

Seems like it was Lawrence for 10 straight up.

Interesting to compare that to our trade for Williams, who is one of the few DT's in the league that is arguably better than Lawrence, with us giving up a 2nd and a TBD 1st next year.

Obviously the 2027 1st is TBD but based on the chart that works out to two 2026 2's. Unless that 2027 1st ends up around 15ish or higher I think the Bengals ended up paying slightly more, albeit in a relatively weak top 10.

I'm also personally hoping the Giants take Love at 5, trading away Lawrence means they're building for 2-3 years from now and obviously taking a RB top 5 would be counter to that.

On the flip side, I'm not really worried about division foes trying to upgrade their defenses because on average I don't think there's much any defense can do to consistently stop our offense unless it's one of the absolute elite of the elites (Denver, Seattle, Houston basically).

The Eagles defense was damn near in that tier last year and our offense roasted them twice.
