College Basketball Chatter...

I hate this late game crap. Won't be over until after 11. I'm too old for this shit.

One of my best friends is from western Illinois and has always been a huge Iowa fan. Was on the road in the middle of nowhere tonight and found it on good old 1040 am, so I listened to pretty much the whole game. Great win. Love the old classic announcer guy calling the game.

1040, 1080, and 820 were my go-tos as a kid when we lived in east Texas.

1110 out of Nebraska is a good one, too. Also 1200 in San Antonio and 870 from New Orleans.

It wasn't that long ago (well, relatively) that I even realized clear channel am could do that. I still think it's cool to be able to listen to a station so clearly from hundreds of miles and many states away. And most sports like tonight aren't available for free on the internet.

The radio in my room didn't come off of 820 very often. My dad wasn't much of a Rangers fan so I had to listen to them on the radio in my room most of the time. Nadel and Holtz, baby. It was also where Rush was broadcast, and those two things made up 90% of my radio listening.
 
And, it's not going to be a late night. Tech is getting dog-walked.

It's what makes college basketball so fun. Kid hits a late three to win the game. The story behind the player just makes it that much more special. I don't care about these games because these players are going to be great in the NBA. I care because it's a special story and purely as a fan of Iowa.

There were several good games over the weekend. It's been very enjoyable. My brackets never win anyway.
