2026 Cowboys Draft Chatter Thread

Oh, I think there's a real chance.

Suppose Downs is sitting there at 12 but no other of the top 6 defenders are there. They're probably taking Downs.

And if that happens it think there's still a chance they'd take CB at 20 depending on who else is there.

I think they'll probably go edge or LB at 20 but I don't think there's no chance they go CB.
Yeah, I could easily see a situation where two DBs are taken. It’s always funny when we get these ‘literal guarantees’.

And when the guarantee fails…?

Horrendous value but this is the sort of thing we should do (obviously with more compensation involved, for you pedants) if the top 6 defenders are gone.
If Tate falls to Dallas there will be five teams looking to trade up for him.

LA might trade 61 just to move up one spot, if Lemon is also gone.

What bothers me is that either he's hiding something or he's hurt, neither of which thrill me. I still like him generally though.

Now of the knee is actually swollen that's probably more of a concern for me. Should a minor cleanup procedure from 5 months ago that caused him to miss zero games still be causing swelling? Or was that just an excuse not to run because you know you can't Crack 4.7 in the forty?

He is quite good. Sneaky white boi good like Braden Smith.

Yates latest: (Faulk falls to 27 in this mock)

12.

Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee

One of the true wild cards in this draft is McCoy, as he's a top-10 talent but has not played or worked out for scouts since an ACL tear in January 2025. He is expected to participate in Tennessee's pro day on March 31, which will help solidify this ceiling if he's healthy.

At his best, McCoy is the top coverage cornerback in this class with exceptional length (77-inch wingspan), ball skills, patience and timing to disrupt wideouts. In a full 2024 season, he had four interceptions and seven passes defensed. The Cowboys need all the cornerback help they can get after finishing last in yards per dropback allowed (7.3) and total pass breakups (30).

20.

R Mason Thomas, Edge, Oklahoma

Thomas is my type of football player as an explosive, powerful and relentless pass rusher. Plus, he has heavy hands and a nasty attitude when defending the run (21 run stops over the past two seasons). Thomas dealt with an injury for part of the 2025 season, but he still finished with 6.5 sacks and 23 pressures in nine games.

The Cowboys must keep hammering away at their pass rush to find some semblance of what they had with Micah Parsons. Dallas traded for edge rusher Rashan Gary to boost this same initiative.

Wow, R (Geng alert) at 20?

Feels high but I like him. I just happen to like a couple guys in a similar mold more. But I love the hair on fire explosive pass rushers. I struggle more with the physical bigger slower guys.

And by high we are talking late first/early second vs pick 20. I feel more confident in him than Faulk.

I won't support anything involving McCoy unless he runs a 4.4 or better and goes through position drills at his Pro Day.

Even then I'd be cautious.

Faulk's pro day is today.

Will he run? I'm curious if he is really as athletic as he is billed. It's hard when you basically never see the guy capturing the edge. Not blaming him, it's a scheme thing.

He's athletic for his size, which is basically suited to be an interior rusher in clear passing situations, with little hints of ability to edge rush.

If he was a top level athlete constantly beating OT's around the edge at his size he'd be Myles Garrett.

There is a massive difference between constant and almost never. I'm not expecting the guy to have 4.6 speed. But if his 10 yard split is 1.7 I'd be pretty concerned.

At 276 pounds, a good athlete should certainly have a 10 yard split below 1.7. This isn't some 290 pound DE. And I don't expect a Miles Garrett 4.64 forty at 272 pounds. Rashaan Gary actually ran even better at 277 pounds. So those numbers aren't the whole story, not even close.

Like I said I'm curious if he runs. Given other prodays I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't run. And if he does run my guess is he will have good times.

I'm honestly not sure he has enough size for what we want in a 3-4 DE. He could grow into it but I don't think Dallas is looking for projects.

Yea it'd be good to see a time, but I also don't think he's going to be on the edge primarily in the NFL in passing situations, or at least he shouldn't as far as how I'm envisioning him, but we'll see.
