Okay, so they didn't restrict Grok really. They just restricted "ask grok" which is the symbol in the upper right corner of a tweet that actuates Grok to further explain/fact check a tweet. You can still use Grok without a sub.

Okay, sorry for the confusion this early, but it is only if you ask Grok something in the comments. You can still use Grok in every other way, just not in the comments I guess? What's the point of even taking that away if you can just go to Grok and do the same thing you would have done in the comments?

Yes this is my understanding as well. You just can't @Grok in the comments but you can still ask it with the symbol in the corner.
