2026 Cowboys Draft Chatter Thread

And you use the only real premium draft picks we have to get that elite player. I would agree if we were just that one player away, but not this year.

I think I can get a player in the high second that is almost as good as pick 20. Which is also why the Browns wouldn't do it.

I think that's probably true at CB and maybe edge but at LB or safety I'm not so sure.

I agree about safety because I think Thienemen is a notch above. But LBer I disagree strongly. I think CJ Allen could make it to the second. And even if he doesn't I have 4 other LBers I like just as much if not more.

I like Allen more than the rest although there are a bunch of good ones. I'd be pretty surprised if he drops out of the first.

I don't think he will drop out of the first but we will see what/if he runs st the Georgia pro day. At 6'1" 230 pounds he needs to run pretty damn well to be a first round in my book. Especially for a guy that in my humble opinion looks a tick slow to read and react.

I hate to say it for all you Faulk haters, but I think Faulk has to be on the table at 20 after the Osa trade.

I had no interest in him once we moved to a 3-4 based on the assumption that our "interior" spots were fully accounted for between Quinnen, Clark, Osa and Thomas, but now with Osa/Thomas gone I think a guy like Faulk actually fits well.

He's a perfect 3-4 DE/5T fit in the first place, he'd be our best interior rusher after Quinnen by about October, and he actually has the potential to develop more as an edge rusher who could possibly even play a little bit of 3-4 OLB here and there.

Either way he has a really high floor as a 3-4 DE/interior rusher, and we just so happen to have basically zero depth as far as our interior DL now.

There will be some good interior DL available throughout the first round and even later. We need to be thinking about who the next Kenny Clark will be, but I think we need the next great Cowboys 3-4 OLB/Edge first. Maybe EZ developed into that guy, but he needs a partner, then.

Still, gotta add DL to the list. I wouldn’t complain at all if we drafted one. Especially with Osa gone.

You love Zion Young right?

Faulk is basically a higher upside version of him.

It's true and he would be a great fit for the new defense. What is average burst for a normal DE is really good burst for a 3-4 DE. And the length is really something valued in the position. The trade of Osa definitely opened up the possibility.

I'd really like to have a 3-4 DE that can get you 6-7 sacks a year and this kid could be that guy. So yeah, I don't hate it nearly as much as I did a few months ago. Especially now that we have plugged the holes in the secondary. Curious to see if he is on our 30 visit list.

And given the Crosby interest and the Gary trade I think it's obvious that Parker loves jumbo edges, which isn't surprising considering they traded for Phillips last year who I felt was a bit of an awkward fit as a 3-4 OLB for the same reason that I felt Crosby would be a bit of an awkward fit.

So I wouldn't even be shocked if Faulk played a little 3-4 OLB in his scheme even if he isn't the speed rusher most of us envision as a 3-4 OLB, although I'd still expect to see him primarily on the interior.

I like Faulk. Thought I saw some subtlely nice things in his highlights. He's got some twitch and country strength to him.

I have tho8ght about him liking the bigger OLBer and its why I'm not sure TJ Parker isn't an option either even though I don't think he is that explosive.

Although Nolan Smith also started at OLBer for the Eagles and he is what 235-238 pounds. So I think we could go either direction.

My guess is Ez, Houston and Liufau are going to be one side and the other will be Gary and Sam Williams.

Some people underestimate country strength. Nebraska was really good at football for a long time because of the cornfed country strength on their teams.
