2026 Cowboys Free Agency Thread…

It's not really apples to oranges.

Pick 92 is pick 92. It's not the same as 101. Just like pick 101 isn't the same as pick 109.

Pick 92 is a third round pick. That doesn't mean it holds the same value as pick 65. Obviously there are ranges in every round. But yes I am glad to be back in the draft on day two. I can get a starting defensive player at 92. What if that pick ends up being Jacob Rodriguez? Still calling it a fourth?
If we get Rodriguez you can call him an UDFA for all I care.

Dont like the trade because I still dont buy that Clark is going to be here next season.
Evidently talent acquisition is hard for Dallas.

The reworked Clark's contract to free space but didn't rework Osa's to free space. Pretty strong indication they think Clark is going to be here beyond next year. When they didn't do that with Osa it was obvious they were considering trading him.

It is time for us to mourn the loss of this player.

Some called him Odig. Mainly because everyone quickly gave up on trying to spell it.

Other than that, I do not think anyone ever said they had develop a way to stop his special brand of fury on Sundays:

I always thought he was vastly overrated and didn't care at all for the contract we gave him.

Solid player? Sure.... But that's all he was.

Of course. We all would have preferred that. But would not getting that 5th be a deal breaker for you if you were making the call?

I dunno about deal breaker, but.... I feel like this is not an "A" trade for us. I feel like the return value is a little light, that's all.

Maybe. But I honestly don’t think we were ever going to get more. Frankly, I thought we were going to be getting a 4th rounder when word broke we were looking to trade him. Or a meh player along with a 5th/6th.

I'm not sorry to see Osa go at all, it's just that we're already so light at the position.

The Cowboys themselves and plenty of Twitteratti types were the ones who for years talked up how underrated and sneaky good he was. The sentiment was that we laymen were just too unsophisticated to see it.

You make trading and gathering all those picks sound so easy.
Not easy, but it’s more possible because players like Downs, the WRs, Proctor, or the 1st round CBs will be attractive trade up targets for teams looking for one last difference maker. We have the opposite need— to address many positions and depth.

Maybe I added an extra t but...

Osa traded to SF for a 3 (92nd overall).

They better use the cap savings to sign/trade for someone half decent, maybe Greenard.
I think this means they are shifting to a rotation of bigger NT type players and fitting Clark and Williams around them as the penetrators. In this scheme Clark as a two gap guy and Williams as the penetrator gives you unique talent and pressure, but you need the NT’s who can anchor.

In that system, Osa is not a starter, more of a a third rotation guy and his cap numbers simply don’t reflect that.

They save some cap space trading him, but also lose one of the only 4or 5 talented people we had on defense.

This explains the Otito Ogbonnia move, because he’s exactly that kind of NT.

Dallas front is now one of the biggest 3-4 fronts around, especially with Gary a 275 in space LB/EDGE, Otto 320, Clark 314, and Williams the penetrator at 303.

Big, penetrating, and powerful. Who are these guys??
