2026 Cowboys Free Agency Thread…

I like Herbig ass.

If they’re smart, they will lock Pickens up so that some of his contract could be deferred… franchise tag would mean somewhere around the $28 million cap hit
Not sure they trust him enough to do more than a one-year thing at this point.

"We'll do some dramatic things."

If they don't sign at least 1-2 legit stating level players on decent sized deals (i.e. not a 1 year 6 million deal or whatever they gave Fowler) it's literally never happening until Stephen is dead.

Yep, he's priming us.

I actually do think they're going to do something more significant than they have most years, there's just too much chatter to that effect and I think it's just kind of a perfect storm between the Parsons public embarrassment, the offense being so good and the defense (and their handpicked boi Eberflus) being so horrendous.

Will it be well thought out?

Almost certainly not, but I do think they're going to hand out their biggest FA contract since Carr, probably something like 3/30 or so, which is really just a solid starter these days.

I wish I could believe that.

I think Simp is right. Maybe they only sign one bigger "name," which isn't enough, but I think they know they can't bring in a bunch of Olawales and Murrays (I know that was a trade) and get away with it after two losing years.

As CRock says, I'll believe it when I see it.

On one hand, I hate the idea of using the tag on Pickens.

But perhaps it shows a bit of prudence since he is a bit of a flake, no matter what he produces. So, he becomes an expensive rental.

Nah. It is for another reason as Cap Boy figures it out.

I'd much rather trade Pickens now than tag him for one year and lose him for nothing next year.
