2026 NFL Coaches/GMs Firing & Hiring Thread

Coaching has gone so young were anyone 50+ feels old now. You see all these young 40's coaches names being thrown around now. McCarthy just doesn't feel that old to me.

No, but Pittsburgh has had 3 coaches in the past 55 years. They like young defensive minded guys. McCarthy doesn't really fit their pattern but he's a good coach so they might be willing to go with a guy like him for 5-6 years.

I get NoDak's point, but I do feel like Pittsburgh has gotten a lot out of the teams they've had the last few years considering they are band-aiding it at QB and to me don't seem that talented overall.

If we're comparing the two organizations, we've had a QB and they don't.

I wonder what they'd have done with a Dak level of QB.

Because I'm guessing we'd have missed the playoffs a majority of the time if we had to run out likes of Fields, Wilson, Pickett, Rudolph, and whatever scrubs they've had at QB.

I think it's a minor miracle and a testament to how well they've built their teams (and Tomlin's coaching) that they've been able to stay above .500 with that group of QBs.

And here's the key....

The Steelers are conducting a REAL HC search.

And when they hire that coach, he can be assured that he will be allowed to do things the right way which means he won't be undermined by the owner or the owner's goof of a son -- neither of which who will be holding football making decisions that they aren't qualified for.

That HC will know that he along with the other qualified football in the organization will be able to make all the decisions regarding the football team and that's exactly how it should be, and that's exactly how things AREN'T done in Dallas.

And if that isn't enough to convince that Pittsburgh's way is better, how about this?

Steelers fans can rest easy knowing that should this next group fail to achieve the success the organization desires, they'll fire them all and bring in other qualified people to try and the job done.

Now if you still don't see much difference between The Steelers way of doing things and our way? Then you're blind, biased, or being obtuse.

The Coleman thing is awkward. Like the owner is basically already calling him a fuckup and a bust and blaming the coach for drafting him. Beane tries to completely revive the kids career.

Jesus, you want Coleman just call the owner up and offer him a 12 pack of beer.
