2026 NFL Coaches/GMs Firing & Hiring Thread

Looks like the Giants are hiring Harbaugh.

Yeah I feel like that's old news now...
Funny how things have changed so much since we were kids. Everything is microwaved now. Something that came out late night before last is old news less than 24 hours later. :lol

According to Schrager they're considering Gannon, Weaver, Orr, Schwartz and Bullen for their DC spot.

Feel like Leonhard is a done deal to us unless Joseph leaves and he stays in Denver as DC.

I hope this happens, but is there not smoke around Joseph getting a HC job with all these openings? I haven't kept up on that.

Edit, found one article saying Joseph is the favorite for the Cardinals job. But the same one said Denver could lose both of them because Leonhard could go to Dallas. I'd think he'd either go with Joseph or stay at Denver but maybe not.

It's hard to discern the smoke at this point but it feels like it's 50/50 at best he goes. I think he's behind Saleh in the "former HC with a defensive background" rankings.

The head coaching searches have moved really slow. But could be teams are waiting on coaches still in the playoffs. Still feels like movement is really slow.

I doubt we'll have much of an answer on our situation until about this time next week.

Part of it is many candidates are still coaching but it also feels like everybody is waiting around for someone else to make a move. I think 2-3 spots will get sorted out this weekend but there would still be like 6-7 open jobs because there are just so many open spots.

I do think that if Denver wins this week and we haven't hired a DC by next weekend, it'll be a pretty clear sign that we're just waiting for their season to end to make it official. Obviously if they lose and we are still waiting it means things truly are up in the air.

Hopefully Geng's man can beat the Walmarts and we can get a little movement going.

You'd think behind the scenes he will know if he is getting a head coach position. He was on the bye, so my assumption is anyone that has him at the top of their list interviewed him and let him know.

I sort of hope the Broncos lose because of this. Which is too bad otherwise I would mind seeing that defense continue to win.

Yep, which means Leonhard should already know what he's doing.

Am I crazy in thinking I don't know why he'd come here if he can either stay in Denver or go with Joseph? Denver definitely has much better talent than we do, and it's not like Jerry loves to pay coaches a lot of money.

I can see not wanting to follow Joseph. He would only be a DC in name. It would still likely be Joseph running the defense.

Now why he would leave Denver and their talent? I can't say for certain but as a defensive coordinator I'd love the chance to coach a defense that has Dak and this offense on the other side. Also expectations would be much easier to meet. Denver has the second best defense in the NFL this year. Right there with the Texans. Sort of no where to go but down.

In Dallas if you can build an average defense you'll look brilliant.
