Defensive Coordinator Candidates

Could be, might depend on how much Jerry is listening to Schottenheimer. Given how he talked in the post game after they lost to Minnesota I think he has a lot of respect for Flores.
Schottenheimer’s kid was smart for heaping praise prior to that game. I am not certain that strategy plays out.

The nice thing about reports like this coming out this early means that it's almost certain that Eberflus is gone. Given how the last two games went I assumed he'd be gone but if reports like this are coming out a week ahead of time you have to think it's pretty much a done deal.

I still don't think Flores is likely for a number of reasons but just the fact that there is a slight chance is a huge win at this point in time.

I don't think he's going to be a strong candidate for many HC jobs, and even if more open (i.e. Bucs, Browns), you'd have other really strong DC candidates coming available in Bowles and Schwartz.

Let's just hope Jerry is still motivated to be aggressive by the shit he took for the Parsons trade and how bad the defense has been overall.

Our veterans don't know what the hell they are doing either. Not sure what exactly Flores wants for DBs but high IQ is high IQ even if they are young or old.
It's pointless. Jerry won't let him get rid of Revel or Bland.

Well you shouldn't get rid of those guys. You have to teach guys like that. And a good DC would.

When they said "Young DBs" I assumed they meant the Bridges and Carson types.

I'm thinking Flores is getting a little overhyped anyway. Yes, he's good, but he's not the only good DC that will be out there.

I think the young players thing is silly. You're going to have to teach everyone. Now maybe you don't want dumb players. A guy like Diggs who doesn't give a shit about learning a scheme. Those guys need to go regardless.

Nothing tells me that guys like Revel or Carson are dumb. Just teach them.

Exactly. It's not like Flores gets to sign a whole new secondary of good vets everywhere he goes. In today's NFL you have to have younger cheaper players on the roster. Good DCs like him will adjust and teach them. So to me the whole premise is off.

I still think Revel will be fine. It was always total insanity to expect a rookie from East Carolina to come in off an ACL, not playing football in over a year, with no camp and no pro experience at all, to step in mid season and be good.

To me, what we saw from him was totally expected. But it doesn't mean he can't be good in the future.

Maybe not Bland, but Revel (who's shown less than nothing) is certainly in that category.

Yeah Bland is a vet at this point.

Revel...I know some people liked him in the draft and all, but he has to show it in the pros. And he very much hasn't. He shouldn't be a made man just because he has a bit of a pedigree.

I worry that he's picking up bad habits right now that will be hard to correct in the future if it starts to become engrained.

Every DB on the team has shown less than nothing this season. Hell Diggs is basically the worst corner of all time in coverage right now. I think you have to grade these guys on a bit of a curve given what the defense has been this year. I've seen good and bad from Revel. I've seen good and bad from Carson. I've seen good and bad from Bland. I've probably only seen bad from Diggs. And the rest of the corners? Not sure I give a shit about them. They are camp body types.

Good DB coach will help also …. I mean Al Harris even made Nashon Wright look good this year
