The total guarantees (50) are low compared to the other recent big CB deals which are usually in the 65-80+ range.

For example, Surtain has an AAV that's only 24/year at 4/96 overall, just a tick above Bland, but his guaranteed money is 78 million. The deal is like 80% guaranteed, compared to Bland's which is maybe 55-60% guaranteed.

So I think they basically gave Bland a slightly higher AAV than they should have in order to lower the guarantees, so if he doesn't live up to the contract they can easily get rid of him with about 2 years left on the deal. And if he does live up to the deal 23/year will be a bargain 2-3 years from now.

Yep, as speculated, it's really a 3 year, $50 mil deal. So basically 16.7/year.

If we want to, we can get out of the last two years. Or if he's worth it, keep him for 21-23/year, which may not even be that much by 2028.

Good deal for us.

What do I know, but just from watching him, I have more confidence in Revel than any of our picks.

The guy just really looks like he is it.

I believe he'll be pretty good, but if we're talking about replacing starters with him before we even see him play, it's a little early for that.

I agree with that, anyone can disappoint. Especially coming off an ACL around here lately. :meh

But he sure looks like he has everything you want, and by all accounts is a good kid. A cut far above the overhyped camp wonders like Seat Belt and Co.

I missed it last season. What did that CB do or say that makes you call him Seat Belt?

lol ok well maybe not with a fullback contract. But I do think he’s insinuating that these are “loyal soldiers” and Micah wasn’t.

Rewarding guys they deem as leaders who want to be here. Its an attempt to change the contract culture in Dallas. I actually agree with the strategy we are trying. Although maybe save some money to actually bring in someone. You don't just have to use the Ploicks to replace Parsons. You can use the extra money to sign outside free agents. But we won't do that.

yeah there’s absolutely merit in taking this philosophy with players and contracts. I think we’re just a little cynical because we know how Jerry is.
