Reddick is an outlier though and nearly an inch in arm length makes a big difference.
If we didn't already have a very undersized edge rusher in Parsons I'd have a different opinion, and if we had a more multiple DC like Zimmer I'd have a different opinion, but I just don't him being a great fit for this roster and scheme.

I agree with your conclusion. I don't see a fit with Parsons. Not unless we were playing more of a 3-4 type system where you'd have 3 big Dlineman and Parsons and Walker as the OLBers.
I do think Walker can rush the passer though. I actually really like the power and speed he plays with as a pass rusher. He "pops" doing it. But if you draft him you're basically drafting a pass rush specialist for third downs here. I don't think he can play 4-3 DE full time at his size opposite Parsons.

He can definitely rush although if I wanted a pure edge rusher I might take Green over him, pending whatever the off field situation is. He looks to have better bend and just looks like a much more refined edge rusher at this stage, while also being a good amount bigger.
Walker may have more of that in his bag than he showed at Georgia since he was being moved around so much, but based on what's out there I like Green more if we're talking pure edge rush.

I think I may like Pearce if we wanted to get a DE. Green's sort of a one year wonder who played against meh competition. Something about Pearce I really like as a pass rusher. Elite burst and beat high level talent regularly over more than one year in college football.
Not to say I don't like Green, I do. But I like Pearce better I think. Subject to change. And the more I think the more I realize how many DEs I like in this draft.
Just give me Donovan Ezeiruaku later.

Yes and no. You need the pieces to fit together on a defense. I'm sure we could use a talent like Walker, but can he fit with all of the other pieces and maximize the value to justify the 12th overall pick?
Take Parsons for example. Guy is an absolute stud, all pro type player. But if you had 11 Parsons to play full time on defense could you make it work? Probably not. You'd have receivers torching you. You'd have teams running all over you. The pieces wouldn't fit together. And I get that's an extreme example and you would love to have 11 Micah Parsons on your team. But you wouldn't be able to maximize all 11 of those guys because they wouldn't fit together.

There's a way to use him but it's relatively narrow and the bigger issue is we already have one very undersized edge rusher that needs to be protected in Parsons. Haven't you been bitching about that forever too?

True. I believe Parsons should be a LB. Either use him the way he was his rookie season or move to 3-4. Move to 3-4. Draft walker. Invest in some big DL and I think we would be way better off defensively than we are now.

Perhaps, and I think 3-4 OLB would be way more ideal for Walker as well, but that's not where we're at so for me Walker is more or less a non-consideration at our pick. I certainly hope he goes before 12 though.

I've talked about an interview I heard with Lacewell years ago not too long before he died. He talked about how they wanted Kiffin because they didn't like Parcells pushing the 34 on them and wanted to go back to something closer to what Jimmy ran.
I wonder if that's a factor at all. As stupid as that would be, you never know with these morons.

This is my struggle with DE. Do I want the pass rush burst guy, like Green, Pearce and such. Or do I want the full sized DE. Stewart, Burch, Williams or Jackson for example.
In my head I'm like why did we draft Kneeland and Williams if I'm going to need to draft yet another 270 pound run stuffer. But if I'm pairing a guy with Parsons do I really want a 245-255 pound DE? And honestly I'm probably just overthinking it, like taking Taco over Watt. Just take the fucking better player.
And ultimately then my head goes why am I so worried about DE? There are other positions of bigger need on defense, like DT.

DE definitely isn't a huge need but it's always kind of lingering in the background because dumbass Williams is a mental midget and can't keep his shit straight. I'm confident in Kneeland and if he takes the step I'm expecting I think you're looking very good for the future, but the allure of adding another elite edge rusher with Parsons is always kind of there for me.
Lawrence is a year-to-year thing at this point and next year is the last on Williams' rookie deal, so then you're left with just Parsons and Kneeland, pending whatever they might do in FA.
I'd rather go DT all things being equal, but there is value there depending on the board, although unless we can add another pick in the first 3 rounds I think it's more likely that DT will be value in either the 1st or 2nd.

I agree, and I really do believe that you can never have enough pass rushers. So to add a guy who can be an elite DE is always a good thing. But ultimately someone who could be an elite DT would help this team more.
We will just have to see how free agency goes but it's hard because of this teams massive needs. Lots of holes to fill. But if we start resigning players it makes it easier to not be so pressured to take certain positions with the first 3 picks.

Any Oklahoma fans want to push for Stutsman? I'm not a big LBer guy but with Overshwon hurt we are real thin at the position. I mention Stutsman because he was pretty highly ranked but viewed as more of an instincts and less athletic guy. And now he runs a 4.52 forty and it makes me think, maybe he is the complete package. Maybe I should go back and watch him. Unfortunately with Overshowns injury, LBer is kind of a need yet again.
On other LBer news Schwesinger who was undersized but great weighed 242 pounds and now I'm suddenly wondering if he isn't kind of a badass option to step in day one and start. He was like 225 pounds. But at 242 if he can run the same, the instincts are great and maybe he is worth it in the second round.

Glad you mentioned that because I thought about it too. Their team was so bad this year it was easy to forget about him, but he's really good. He's not what you'd call just a Zach Thomas type because he's not undersized (to say the least) and isn't just an "instincts" guy, but that time surprised me, too.
Only negative I can think about him is that he used to be a bit of a goofball -- not a bad guy in any way, just maybe sort of a class clown type -- but I didn't hear about that last year. He even gave a good bit of his NIL money to some lesser-paid guys on the team.

Yeah I didn't think he was a bad athlete. But I was expecting more of a 4.65-4.7 type speed. 4.52 puts him at pretty damn ideal speed.
It's a damn thin LBer class but there are guys who could have a chance to step in and start from day one with Loofa. Like RB it feels like an easier position to draft an immediate starter.
Love Overshown and I still have a place for him but he may not play until the second half of the year if at all.

I've had him in that range for months, this performance just clinched it. The only concern are these random rumblings about off field stuff, other than that he reminds me of something similar to a Will McDonald.

Yeah, I think he could be really good. But the impact of showing off like that at the combine in my opinion is definitely greater than waiting and doing it at the Tenn pro day. I think some of these guys who sit out and are outside of the top 15 picks of the draft really miss out on an opportunity.
Dude ran in a hoodie too, which makes it every that much better.
